It's not in the interest of the species to stay with one partner, but we let all that "being happy with a family" stuff get in the way of all the meaningless sex.

I don't think monogamy is natural for our species in it's entirety, but it's different for everybody. I'm naturally a monogamist. Some people are just happier one way or the other.
