+321 It's sad that Glee is supposed to be about acceptance, but all it does is stereotype, amirite?

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, they're dead-on about all those high school stereotypes, therefore dealing with issues that a lot of highschoolers actually have to face. In some ways though, you can see that some of the characters break through their stereotypes; for example, Mercedes being best friends with a gay white boy. Or Artie dating the popular cheerleader. Or the big tough football player secretly being gay. Obviously, I watch too much Glee...xD

Everything that breaks any sort of stereotype is ridiculously forced though.

Well, thats a situation where its difficult to find a happy medium between being realistic about high school and being able to relate to its viewers, and then also not sending out negative messages about stereotypes being unbreakable and different social groups being unable to mingle.

I just find it really painful to watch sometimes. I love the music though.

I think its a fun show. Its episodes are sort of hit-or-miss, but oh well. whatcha gonna do?

Seriously? High school was nothing like Glee for me. And judging by a lot of posts on this site, it isn't like that for a lot of people.

(Your+name+(optional)): Well, yeah its way over the top and a little ridiculous, which is just what keeps the show interesting. But I think it does touch on a lot of sensitive issues, like homosexuality, being a minority, teen pregnancy in season 1, that sort of thing. anyways, its a fun show in my opinion. and quite enjoy the musical aspect of it.

I think "touch" is too soft a word. It's on a kind of reckless rampage about homosexuality. Like, I don't have anything against gay people. I know the show is trying to help people become more accepting of them, but using a character like Kurt to do it is doing the whole movement more harm than good, in my opinion. I don't know any gay people who even come close to his flamboyancy, and if they do, they're really hard to intimidate, whereas Kurt is less of a gay guy, and more of a flimsy girl. I've never met anyone gay/straight/male/female as annoying as him. What annoys me is that the show revolves around him, when there are other teen issues that are just as important, if not more important. Whether you want to admit it or not, he's in the minority.

Oh yeah. I mean, like I said, they are very over dramatic. I'm not trying to tell you that the show is perfect in every single way, and needs no improvement. I mean, there's always room for that. I just think that it at least brings attention to certain problems (even if there is an over emphasis on Kurt), which really is good.

high schools are generally very stereotypical, (I am in high school) but I find it sooo funny how stupid and outrageous some of the plots are. But it is sort of about acceptance in a stereotypical world.

The story-lines aren't that creative but I watch it for the music and it's just something I look forward to, like a guilty pleasure or something.
