Theres no point in children under 13 to even be on the internet.

Actually, there is a point for people under 13 to be on the internet. What if they need it for homework?

if they need to help with homework then they can ask a parent/adult or ask friends, if they have any.

But sometimes teachers assign homework online or you need to do research on the internet for homework. And sometimes it's just easier to look something up when you need help with homework. Maybe people under 13 shouldn't be on social networking sites and defiantly not porn sites, but saying that they shouldn't be on the whole internet is a very ignorant statement.

Because I've been addicted to the internet since age eight, I've noticed that my grammar is dramatically better than that of my peers who have recently discovered facebook and all that shit. Just sayin'.

I used the internet before I was 12, and it's actually helped me. I'm way more computer-literate than most of my friends, and even teachers! I know how to navigate better, type faster, etc. which, crazy as it sounds, wil help me in life. The internet is pretty much the center of everything, and the people who are better at using it will probably get better paying jobs. I'm not saying that 8 year olds should spend all day on the internet, but I think they should at least know how to work it.

There's defiantly some websites people 13 and under shouldn't be on, but the whole internet? I've been going on the internet for years and with out it, i wouldn't be able to get straight A's or good grades. I use the internet for homework, whether it's to look up something I don't understand or to do research for a project. Sometimes the teachers even have you do homework online. Also, there are certain websites designed for little kids like club penguin and webkinz for them to go on so they don't go onto any inappropriate sites. yes, I agree people under 13 shouldn't be on some sites like porn and stuff like that, but they should be able to go on the internet.

This is stupid of course they need the Internet for homework and stuff. Just because you are older and didnt grow up with this doesn't mean we shouldn't!

OP should have specified that by internet they meant social networking sites. Not research sites which can almost always have a teachers or parent/gardians assistance. If they did mean all of the internet then that isn't really true because the internet can be very useful if used correctly and intelligently

I think that people under 13 shouldn't be allowed to use facebook, or porn sites for obvious reasons.

I agree with broadwaygleek (and Anonymous, but there is more than one). It would be beneficial to know how to use the internet at a young-ish age because is important because it is such a big part of life in many places.
