-147 Bookstores aren't libraries - so buy the book and GTFO, not clog the aisles by reading on the floor, then returning the now tattered book to the shelf, cheapskate, amirite?

I always do this. Most bookstores have armchairs and coffee machines now. I dunno if they really planned on someone like me going in and reading for hours when they put them in, though.

Yeah. I always buy the book and get out. I was looking for a book on urban planning (for pleasure), and some people were sitting on the floor with their cups of coffee, blocking the shelves so I had to reach over them to pull books because they wouldn't move. It was like walking on eggshells in the entire store - people like that were everywhere. And of course, they didn't buy anything, just bent the page they left off on and put it back on the shelf to continue the next time they walk in.

I gotta admit, I'm guilty of the last thing too. I start reading a book in a bookstore, then memorise the page number (as opposed to folding something I don't own) and come back another day to finish it. Though in my defence, I do buy a hell of a lot of books/DVDs from that particular store.

Ha. Nice :P

I spend a lot of time in bookstores, sitting on the floor and reading. But I don't ruin the books, (I don't even ruin MY books. Heck, I treat books better than I do people! ...Except Twilight.) and I get out of peoples way if they want to get something from the shelve I'm parked in front of. Some people, like me, just like the atmosphere bookstores have. Though I do usually have plans to come back later and buy the book...

Sometimes I spend hours in B&N, and if I can finish a certain book in let's say four hours, I might as well finish it in the store. If I find the book to be excellent, I'll buy it and add it to my collection. If it was okay or not worth buying, I don't see anything wrong with just putting it back on the shelf. I guess you could buy the book and return it after you're done (considering you keep it in new condition). It's the same thing, except the first way is fewer trips if you finish the book in one shot.

Some people are IN COLLEGE and can't afford that shit because we already spent money on textbooks with exorbitant prices and our ramen noodle supply for the semester.

I start reading it in the store, and if I like it enough I'll buy it
