+147 We probably have the ability to create a hair dye that lasts forever in your hair. Like, if you're a brunette and want to be a blonde forever, it's probably possible. Except no hair salon would ever want to sell it because then after one visit, their customers would never have to come back again, amirite?

did you forget your hair grows out?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That would require the technology to keep hair from growing, so I'm thinking no.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And the customers will still go to cut/style their hair....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This actually already exists. Weird right? It's called permanant hair dye. But there's this magical thing called ROOTS.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Permanent hair dye washes away after washing it enough.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Some colors fade, yes, but permanent dye doesn't wash out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My friends and I dye our hair black often and it even says on the lable it lasts up to 40 washes, so yes it does.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then you're using semi-permanent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure I know what dye I'm using better than you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm just saying that semi-permanent dye is dye that washes out after somewhere between 24-40 washes, and permanent dye doesn't wash out at all.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well permanent hair dye does lose it's luster after a couple washes. Maybe that's what she means

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I dunno. I did point out how some colors fade in my original reply, though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or you could be like me, I started out with blonde hair and then it turned brunette, and now it's turning black.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I love when people contradict themselves in their own posts.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

this is not currently possible, are you stupid? If we could target specific types of cells in specific areas of the body with genetic alterations, hair color would definitely not be at the top of the list.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but it would still be on the list somewhere. And therefore be invented.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You know that dyeing your hair blonde is permanent? What happens with that is that the dye isn't really technically a dye. It doesn't cover the existing hair with a new color bleach(dyeing your hair blonde) strips the color and the folicles on the hair. That's another reason why it's hard to dye it a darker color after, there's nothing for the dye to grap onto.

It's sad that so many people voted YYA, meaning that a large amount of amiriters are ignorant of the fact that one's roots grow out in your natural color.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe they were agreeing with the second statement? Just a thought.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was more into the second part but the first part was a little eEeEeEe

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, same lol
