+335 It's math not maths, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless you happen to live outside of the U.S., like quite a few people do.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OMG there are other countries besides the US?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah. Most of them are a lot better. You should check them out sometime.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

next you're gonna tell me that there was some kind of war that involved these 'countries' that was provoked by a man with a weird mustache.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You sound like you're filled with intelligence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's sarcasm, bro. You should be more apparent with yours next time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know it's sarcasm.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i like to think i am. just up until this point, i had no knowledge of life outside of the united states. i thought we were it. so there really was a war?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually the us is the most powerful and has highest gdp you must not live in the us as you are obviously jealous

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, I live in the US. I live in Florida. Nice try y

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No way, you mean... not everyone will agree with this? Like... people are different? I need to sit down.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's scary isn't it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i live in canada...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

or unless u live in canada u jerk cries

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like tuwtles.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Stupid, ignorant, American asshole. Maybe I think it's football, and not SOCCERRR.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

im not american.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, I guess since the correct term is Mathematics, the short version would be maths but the U.S. likes to come up with things like their own nonsensical metric system to seem better than everyone else.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No... the short version of MATHematics would probably be... well... math. No need to take the s from the end and tack it on... But alrighty.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We're not the only country who uses that system...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How many of you people that hate Americans have actually been to Amercia? Or know an American? Or met an American? Let me guess, you're getting your negative image of Americans from the media.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am an American, living in America. I can honestly say this place sucks shit. y

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well. How much of America have you actually SEEN? Every country's got it's goods and bads...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've seen America up and down. I've lived from Boston MA to Alabama. I've seen pretty much all of it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Right because you know we can totally just forget about the entire west, just because you've lived in two states doesn't mean you've, "Pretty much see all of it."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Asshole, I said "from". Implying more than two.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Now why did you have to call me an asshole? You should be able to handle and argument without resorting to namecalling.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry, looks like I'm not nearly as able to handle an argument as you are. Thanks for your input.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Then how do you know any other country is better?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@968130 (plotbunnyhunter): It's like you're not even letting this person speak their opinion by saying they don't like the USA. You're not going to convince them by saying "you haven't even seen all of it!" If they don't like it, they don't like it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's nearly impossible to change anyone's opinion about anything, but that doesn't mean that people won't debate. They have every right to state their opinion, and I have the right to argue that it's pretty hard to hate every single aspect of an entire country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not sure you realise that the US bought out the rest a long time ago.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Clearly this case, like most, shows that American English is usually a simplified version. Removing letters or replacing them with ones that suit the sound you make when you say it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, and just to add to the argument....why do americans feel the need to take the "u" out of every freakin word? Its fineas it is....leave it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And Ferb?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

phineas lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In America, it's math. In South Africa and presumably the rest of the world, it's maths. It also makes a lot more sense so say maths, because it's short for mathematics not mathematic. Back of my old textbook: http://ctrlv.in/12990

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*accept or was that also part of your dialect?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Also plus, minus, and times are not verbs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

South Africa is king...woooooooooo!! :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

:(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The full word is mathematics so therefore maths, but I have no problem with either way it is said.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

full version is mathematics, if someone is going to shorten it its MATHematics, not MATHematicS

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Your welcome, but I'm still wondering why you called me that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's mathematics not mathematic, idiots...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the short version of chemistry is chem, not chemy, the short version of biology is bio, not bio-y.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's because it's one biology and one chemistry, not biologies/chemistries(then it'd be bios or chems). It's mathematics. It's more than one mathematic, therefore it's maths and not math.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Your+name+(optional)): youre right, thats probably why this post has such a poor score...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Cause it's full of americans who think they're better than the british.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

but i'm canadian.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh.. naah I like canadians, they just have american influence

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never understood why people say maths. It's like a hillbilly with a lisp trying to sound smart.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well this is pretty much the America:Rest of the world ratio on this site.
