Bass != Guitar Bass - A back man in the band, forms the backbone with the drummer and acts as the metrinome. Guitar - A mid man, adds fills to the music completing the overall sound. They are both vital and different.

i play too, i think ppl just think playing bass is "easy", try playing hysteria by muse, i also love the intro and verses of Blood to Bleed by Rise Against, all bass baby!

If you guys haven't heard the bass intro on Black Sabbath - NIB.I'd start learning bass just for that.And the dazed and confused bassline.
