Bassists are the most underrated musicians in a band, amirite?
by Anonymous11 years ago
Meh... that may be the back-up guitarist. Hurmmm... *thinks*

bassists are not guitarists, the keep everyone else on beat, and complete the sound of the ban by hitting the lower notes.

I know, but, in a band, the guy who plays the back-up guitar is shuffled into the background. D:

Guitar =/= Bass. I is not stew-pod. :(

Wrong he is a mid man:
Back men are your drummer and bassist.
Mid men are your pure supporting musicians.
Front men is your singer and lead guitarist.
And then there are side men who are specialty instruments that are usually contracted only for special performances.

Paul McCartney played bass, far from underrated.

To be fair though, he's known for his signing and songwriting for the Beatles, not really for his bass-playing
by Anonymous11 years ago
Yeah, same with Mark Hoppus.
by Anonymous11 years ago
Thats cause he was also a vocalist.....

Second-most underrated, maybe. I think the drummer is the least appreciated.

Especially when they're actually doing shit. I never really noticed the bass parts in songs until I started playing bass. Also, in the song "The Real Me" by the Who, John Entwistle played the bass part as a joke during the first take and they kept it in the recording that made it to the album. There are some pretty good bass riffs in that song.

The bass in "The Real Me" is really good though! I think it's the best part of the song

I think the drummers tie with the bassist. Yeah, both are important parts of the band, but unless they commonly have solos in songs that make them stand out from the rest of the band, people typically don't acknowledge them. The drummer is ignored because he's placed in the back during concerts and is hidden by his instrument. The bassist is ignored because typically bands just give the bass a simple part to play but to make up for it, the bassist is to the side where people can see him.
I was watching a NoFX video once where they were greeted by fans. Everyone was recognized but their drummer.
