+898 Hey Frodo and crew, when Gandalf tells you that a balrog is coming to kill you, it doesn't mean to wait until it's right around the corner, it means to RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIVES, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol at "Frodo and crew" You mean the Fellowship?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, I actually didn't know there was a technical term for all of them. But now that you mention it, that makes total sense

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thought I'd let you know Gandalf is the shit! "You shall not pass!" is my favorite line from the trilogy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know that was a repost, he stole that from the French at Verdun in WW1.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did you know that in the first volume of LOTR Gandalf says to the Balrog, "You cannot pass," instead of "You shall not pass?" I was shaken when I read that in the book.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha that's the shit too! Gandalf is just such a badass.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In the movie scene he turns around and immediately says, 'You cannot pass.' Then Frodo screams, 'Gandalf!', and then Gandalf does his whole 'Yooouuuu shall not paasssss.' thing.

Dang, a POTD I know nothing about and can't make a witty comment on. On a side note, did you know that in all the Lord of the Rings movies, they used distance to make characters look bigger than other characters? They weren't actually that size.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And perspective. Like Gandalf's wagon and the table in the hobbit house are both in 2 different pieces.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yep. Our chemistry teacher was telling us about it om the last day of school while everyone watched lord of the rings. It was pretty cool, and nicely done considering the time frame the movies were made in.

For some people, death might be somewhat of a hurdle. FUCK THAT.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or you could make friends with it. and once you've earned it's trust beat it to death with a baseball bat.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Baseball Bat, why is it always a baseball bat?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Cuz there awesome...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because* they're*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

when u corrected his grammar it would have been funnier if you meant to say "because they are".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What's do Frodo and Lebron James have in common? They both lost the ring! ...but Frodo got his back.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

THEY'RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARD!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What did you say?!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Isn't Balrog a character in Street Fighter2?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I instantly thought of the song Gold Watch when I read your comment

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What's taters precious?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wrong movie.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The only thing I remember about the lord of the rings is "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've only read the books. Didn't want another great series destroyed by the cinema so I haven't watched the movies D;

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought the movies were pretty well done. They obviously weren't perfect, but I think they captured the essence of the series rather well. And the music rocked. It's one of the few book to movie transitions I enjoyed. *shudders at memories of Percy Jackson and Eragon*

Hey Bilbo and gang, when Gandalf and Beorn say STAY ON THE PATH in the forest on the way to the Lonely Mountain, they mean follow the path, not chase elves and get lost, captured by giant spiders, and locked in a dungeon.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Such an awesome comment! Exactly what I was thinking when I read the hobbit!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

<lolwut>

My favorite line in the movie is when Pippin asks where they are going after they decide to destroy the ring:)
