instead of tv, it could be how could she have gone through the market with salesmen relentlessly marketing their product with demands for people to buy it

Regardless of the obvious issue, this does pose an interesting question. There was a scene in the movie in which she was running from the police, but had no choice to stop from a vendor when she said, "Try our new perfume". Now, if we were to place her in modern society when every commercial ends with, "Take home your copy of _____ today!" or "Call and order yours now!" Obviously, she would just have to buy everything and very quickly max out her credit. Then, what happens when she sees the next commercial and has no money or credit to buy it with? Some commercials wording would force her to steal (such as the "take yours home") but others would simply order her to buy something that she simply could not do. This poses an interesting dilemma. Then I realize she would just obviously not own a TV and that I'm way overthinking a question about a not all that well known fictional character and move on.
