+190 There are a few acceptable spelling or grammar mistakes or substitutes when you're online. Ex: gonna, wanna, your (instead of you're), and, of course, amirite. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate when people switch your and you're. Just sayin'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah me too. That bugs me

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same, everything else is fine, but the your/you're thing has to be correct.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

NO. All homophones must be correct. D:<

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*saying

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The only one of those that is acceptable is amirite seriously don't fuck up you're and your or there their they're

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm okay with "gonna" and "wanna," but I'm definitely not cool with mixing up your/you're or there/their/they're.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree except I'm ok with your/you're because usually when I'm on the internet (I use my phone for the internet) and I'm typing something I just put "your" without even thinking about it because its shorter. I don't even notice when I do it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

NO. Mixing up your/you're (and the other common ones) is not okay.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

don't mix up your and you're....that's just not acceptable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I also want people to use the correct to/too/two... Especially don't use 2 for anything besides two

by Anonymous 13 years ago

any of those are acceptable accept mixing up your/you're and their/there/they're

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well you mixed up "except" with "accept"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my english teacher said gonna and wanna are alright to use in formal language

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...awk.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gonna and wanna are ok. Your is just annoying, since it's actually a word with meaning.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gonna, wanna, i and u are okay on the internet. Your is not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're = You are Your = It belongs to you They're = They are Their = It belongs to them There = Opposite of here To = "I'm going to do something" Too = Also Two = The number between 1 and 3 I learned these on my first year of English. Not that hard. I agree with gonna, wanna and amirite though

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we know, we choose not to care. but we dont have sticks up our butts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They get translated in my mind, it's why it bothers me. (I'm not English)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they look and sound the same i think youre smart enough to figure it out. especially if you were someone who was english.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know they sound the same and can be easy to mix up. What does that have to do anything, anyway?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what? what does a word sounding the same have to do with it similar deffinition and comprehension? WHAT?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you're the one with the stick in the ass... Do mistakes if you want, it's not like I'll kill you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no youll just freak out and tell me how stupid i am and how important spelling and grammar is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

An anon's grammar/spelling is the last thing I could care about right now, trust me

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sounds intimidating.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you dont care about grammar....? thats why you voted no way smirk

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I voted No Way because I'm not English. :U

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@1099172 (Alexandra53225): so your lack of being able to tell what people mean when they say "their" instead of "they're" makes it not ok, even though you obviously speak fluent english and know what the other forms of there means and would easily be able to figure it out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

:D You think I'm fluent? Thank you! (not being scarcastic.) I am able to tell what they mean. If someone said "they're dog is annoying" or "their going somewhere" I'd get the meaning. I never tell people "OMG NO WAY IT'S THEIR DOG* UR AN IDIOT LULZ", I just don't like it. So many people complained about you're/your, all anons came to me...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes i do lol and thats my point you get it either way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I understand standard grammar rules. But let's be real, every time you're talking to your friend on Facebook and he/she says "your" you aren't going to correct them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

exactly. when people say they have "no tolerance" theyre talking about this site, why do amirites have to have proper comments

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i have no tolerance for people who say your instead of you're

by Anonymous 13 years ago

or visa versa

by Anonymous 13 years ago

as clecvsftw said, i doubt you say anything when your friend on facebook says you instead of "youre"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i really do though lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

im sure your friends love you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Your is unacceptable. The other three are fine.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I spent a REALLY REALLY long time trying to figure out why "and" and "of course" were incorrect grammar. Then I figured out I'm an idiot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, but I can't agree with the "your instead of you're" part.
