+222 It's kinda cool that when musicians look at a piece of sheet music, they see beautiful melodies and music, but when normal people look at sheet music, all they see is lines and dots, amirite?

Heck, I'm a musician and when I look at a piece of sheet music I see lines and dots. Well, I can read the note, but being able to see melodies is something not even all musicians can do.

It reminds me of how astrologists look at all of these stars in the sky and see scorpions and crabs and stuff. And maybe free mapquest.

It also works the other way. Every time I hear music I keep visualizing the notes. Makes it a bit less magical than it should be.

I quite agree with you. Lots of people think that reading music too difficult; the truth is, it is a language which is known by many. Unlike other languages, music is very basic, uncomplicated and uses only a few "letters", or in the case of music, symbols. Knowing how to read and write this language is very fulfilling, and is a knowledge that would be treasured for a lifetime. Learning how to read music is a significant step if you eventually want to play an instrument, sing musical numbers or even compose a new melody. Now, to begin reading music, get some sheet music, preferably a piece of music which is not complicated or too long a piece. Also, make sure it has readable and clear markings; otherwise, music symbols may be confusing and may seem to look the same if you are just beginning to become familiar with them. However if you want to find music scores for the beginner with easy music notes you can search for http://www.musicforte.com/sheet_music/digital_downloads/ where you will find classical sheet music for guitar in PDF format. The classical collection consists of methods, contributions from other guitarists and composers with collections of pieces and solos that you can download and print out too.
