+435 Claiming that all religion is bad because some people use it to discriminate against others is no different than claiming all science it bad because some people use it to create weapons which will kill others. amirite?

Well said.

All religion teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world, so that is all bad right there.

Science teaches us to reduce all of the universe's phenomena into their smallest and most basic parts, thus detracting from our overall understanding and leading to a culture satisfied with nothing more that a surface level comprehension of the world around us. It could also be argued that science teaches us to work towards controlling and quantifying the world instead of living in and enjoying it, causing us to be perpetually dissatisfied with the world we live in and diminishing what could be a deeper human experience. That in itself could be perceived as bad too... I'm not knocking science, I'm just pointing out that the logic is basically the same in both cases and that neither is necessarily wrong.

I'm an athiest and, while I respect their views, it seems like the bottom line of every religion is "love our God or go to hell."

not buddhism/hinduism. those are both basically about (their own religion, duh) and also learning to accept cultural differences. i think you're talking about middle-eastern based religions.
