+198 In stores, bigger jean sizes should be lower on the shelves and smaller sizes should be up high so larger people don't have to go through the embarrassment of asking an employee to get down a size 15, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hate to seem like an ass but... The more popular sizes are the smaller ones, it would be annoying for the employee and a waste of effort to get pants from the top shelf every five minutes. And besides, it might convince them to lose weight.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, it doesn't convince you to lose weight. It's humiliating.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well maybe if they are tired of doing that and being humiliated then they could decide that they could lose weight and not go through that anymore by dieting or something... That wasn't my main point anyway

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

why not? what do you think they should do with the bigger clothes? And if you believe that they should be lower than the smaller sizes, you should probably try to see the same situation in the other side's point of view ( don't tell me to do the same, thats actually kind my "thing" since you don't know me that well), If you were a size zero, and your pants were suddenly at the same height as the ceiling. Would you be happy? Would you want an employee standing there with you taking down every pair pants you try on? Now think of the employee that basically mans that one rack now. They'd have to be paid more due to their increase in labor they need to complete during their work hours. In this economy, people can barely afford to pay the employees they have already and are already cutting back hours. Those anorexic girls who are a size 00 would be even more self conscious than before. (anorexia = worse than obesity) I know this is kind of a stretch but do you get it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't know to turn it into some huge chain of events. It's not like lowering the larger sizes on a shelf would cause the world to implode. I'm just saying, it would be nice.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So that doesn't make sense:"You don't know to turn it into some huge chain of events" perhaps you meant need? I guess we will never know.........Well anyway, I'm just saying that it would be nice for you and for those of similar size with a similar take (note how particular = smaller percentage), but you are not thinking of people who are any size below fifteen (larger percentage). I said to look on the other sides of the situation, and you weren't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not a size 15, nor am I large at all. I used to be, and know how it is. And yes. I meant need, not know. You can argue this all you want, but unfortunately larger people ARE a good percentage of the nation these days. Plus, being bigger is less socially acceptable than being small. People stare and people talk. of course being very skinny comes with it's own issues, but honestly, it's not as bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well you used the example so I was using it too. Even if they are a larger percentage, it is not healthy for people to be "bigger". It shouldn't be socially acceptable for the majority of the nation to be less healthy ( yeah I know it happens anyway), encouraging it ( if you could say doing this would make it such) should not happen. I believe that people should not be made more comfortable because they are larger, ( I know this sounds extremely harsh but honestly) because the more comfortable they get the bigger they get and the more health problems they have like cancers and diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Have you ever been anorexic( I mean you don't actually have to answer that)? I can only imagine it myself, but it is an extremely life threatening and terrible state of mind. A lot worse than obesity, it can cause a person to have less than 10% body fat and in serious cases, the people's organs are being eaten away slowly as they starve themselves.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agreed with you on all counts except for the anorexia one. You yourself emphasized the downfalls of obesity. It seems like your description for anorexia just falls short in convincing me that it truly is the more serious disease. Regardless of your persuasion though, I feel that both diseases are equally significant and must be treated as such. By highlighting one over the other, you are essentially saying the other is moderately passable, which is completely untrue. It is so important to maintain a weight that can be considered neither obese nor anorexic - that is the way to avoid terminal illnesses and the like, not focus on one over the other.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I am fully aware of this. I had not been discussing anorexia in depth before, and I did not want to bring up an entire different subtopic. While they are both extremely serious, I feel that anorexia can be more harmful than obesity can in a shorter time. While it takes years of being over weight for a person to be truly affected by it, anorexia can kill in a matter of months depending on the case. Both are truly awful and I completely agree with your point.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If someone is embarrassed about their size enough to actually consider saying it to be a problem, then that person should probably be motivated enough to lose some weight.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

LET'S JUST FUCKING MAKE HORIZONTAL SHELVES, OKAY?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was going to say you could put some large and small on the top and some large and small at the bottom but that works too lol.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

... Everyone can already see that your a big size, shouldn't that already be embarrassing? I knew what that was like so I did something about it. If your sick of being embarrassed then so should you..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly!! People get so embarrassed about others knowing their age or weight, but really, we can already tell.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

YAY! CHAPSTICK IS BACK!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't know I had a fan club.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It isn't a bad thing is it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Of course not! :D

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's a nice excuse to parade your skinny-ness. "EXCUSE ME, I CAN'T REACH THE SIZE DOUBLE ZERO PANTS. DID YOU NOT HEAR ME? WANT ME TO REPEAT IT? YES, I SAID DOUBLE ZERO."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My sister is a double zero and does not want anyone to know. Skinny people can be insecure about their size too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not always true, but wouldn't the shorter people have smaller size jeans so it makes sense that it's lower.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The smaller sizes are more popular? You do realize that there are a hell of a lot of overweight and obese people in this world, right? More people would need the bigger sizes than the smaller, so that's not a legitimate argument at all.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

er not as many as you think. Despite the stereotype in America (for example), most people aren't actually that fat. I actually don't even know a lot of fat people.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, it's estimated that over 60% of American adults are overweight, so maybe you shouldn't judge based on your personal experience. Learn the facts before you make statements.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yeah but just because you're overweight doesn't mean you're fat. Closely correlated but not quite the same thing. A few of my friends are a few pounds over the range but they're not huge. They wear 1-2 sizes larger than me. Same thing for those underweight. A lot of my friends are underweight but they're not super skinny. I can still fit into their jeans. you can manipulate number to mean anything.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, being overweight does mean you're bigger, that's kind of obvious. I never said it means you're huge, but you're definitely not going to be wearing the smaller sizes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think mostly in urban areas obesity is an anomaly. Perhaps it is observed in higher frequencies in areas that home Wal-Marts.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Since when are the large sized pants on the ceiling... And also I'm pretty sure that the smaller pants being lower to the ground is logical...Besides you shouldn't be embarrassed of your weight regardless of if you are 00 or and XXL we are all shaped differently that's just how it is. You just have to accept your body for what it is I know it's hard (I'm four foot eight and not growing) but you can't let size large or small upset you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

dude if your a size 15 you could use the exercise...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm personally not, and I think I was just having a bad day when I made this post now that I'm thinking about it... ahh. But I still kind of stand by my point. Asking the perfect, beautiful hollister employee to get you a fat size isn't enjoyable.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You guys realize size 14 is average in America now right?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Which isn't a good thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But if you think of it how many 6ft tall 00 do you see walking around?Even if you are skinny but tall you will most likely be a 7 at least cause they don't make small sizes long enough for women with long legs...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. I have to wear a 6 sometimes, even though my waist is closer to a 2. (3, really, but for some reason, odd numbered pants sizes don't exist here.)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Short people need love too.
