I'm not allowed to get pregnant because of heart issues. It wasn't that terrifying except that if I'm not careful and end up pregnant I could die...

Not really. I'd love to adopt. There are so many children out there who need moms and dads. The only reason it sounds terrifying to you is because 1) It is biologically programmed into you to desire to pass on your genes and 2) Society still views a woman's ability to bear children as her primary function, regardless of whether or not she chooses to.

As slutty as this sounds, if I never wanted children, I might actually enjoy not being able to get pregnant. There would be no fear of getting pregnant accidentally. However, I'd still like the ability to have children if I wanted to, so.
