there are some underachievers there. There's also smart people who want to save like 50% on their required courses. BTW, a lot of rich, spoiled, and lazy people go to "good" colleges too

I'm not certain about the States but here in Canada, university is all theoretical and people go to college to get practical training for a job. Often people who graduate university end up going to college anyway. So, college is actually for the smart people that know what job they want and go out and get the needed training right away for a quarter of the price.

A lot of people do know what career they want, though, but still want a well-rounded education, don't they? I don't think post-secondary education is supposed to prepare you just for a job (not that you can only get that from a university).

I would rather get my well-rounded education from my experience in the job field than pay $10,000 a year or worse, a semester, just so I can say "I have an education." 'Cause, shit, I know people who have $30 an hour and THEY DIDN'T EVEN FINISH HIGH SCHOOL! Job experience will take you 10x further than any university education. Unless of course, you need your university education to attend a specialty school like doctors, dentists, etc.

I don't pay anything out of my own money to go to community college, fafsa and scholarships cover it all. I actually get money for myself to keep. By the time im done with my 2 years I'll be able to buy the car i want.

I'm going to my local community college for free (for good grades )for two years, then a University after I take my required courses. Plus, going to a community college at first helps wean people off living at home instead of just moving far away as soon as you graduate.

Assuming this is about American colleges/universities, universities are regular, four-year universities that are usually pretty big and probably a lot like your university. Our community colleges are schools that only offer 2 year degrees. They teach the same curriculum, but because it's mostly lower division and anyone can take classes there some people get a superiority complex. They're super cheap, and as I said anyone can go. A lot of people will actually keep going to a two-year while going to a four-year for any classes they can to keep cost down. Community colleges are not to be mixed up with colleges within a university. Those are only the most prestigious universities that have big enough departments that they break them off into its own college.

I'd like to point out that I go to an early college academy (which is held at a community college). We're a group of high schoolers taking college classes along with a high school curriculum. I've seen the people there, and I know for a fact that (the high schoolers, at least) are going to achieve great things.

No, Community college is a good start. Just because you go to it doesn't make you dumb. You save money on your general courses. Lots of people who went to a 4 year college first have said that they wish they would have went to a community college first so they wouldn't have so much debt. Your opinion on community colleges is immature and unrealistic.
