There is if you're planning on having sex with them. Or if you work in a pub where the legal age is 18, and they come in for a drink.

Well 18 is supposed to be the age that you graduate high school and get a job, enter the military, or go to college. So if one of them is in high school and the other has done one of those things, then yeah there's a big difference. If they're both in the same place, then no, not much difference at all.

The more I think about it, the more I disagree. I know if you're 17, and your 18 year old mate is only a few months older, it doesn't seem like much of a difference, but in most countries, 18 is the age that you are legally an adult. You have the rights and responsibilities of an adult, you can be tried in court as a adult, etc.

Major changes in the brain take place around that age, although of course it's a bit different for everyone.

The only reason to wait one month to have sex is when a woman is 17 years and 11 months old. True Story.
