Your body isn't disgusting, society is. amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're a part of society too, you know. So is whoever you're addressing the post to. :P

I think that Is checkmate to you

...LOL
you're funny or just stupid
OP is addressing Society's value on a specific body type or image and how we all try and fit into that label. Ultimately, we feel failure when we do not.
blahhhhh something like that ^.

Society is disgusting, but there is such thing as a disgusting body too. Like super-obese people? Yeah, sorry if it's mean or whatever, but if you're too heavy to walk or take care of yourself and you're unhealthy, that's gross. Especially if it's just due to laziness and not a health problem.

A) Society is everyone. I assume you mean the media?
B) Disgustingly fat? I'm assuming that's what you mean, as people strive to be thin, and the media kinda promotes it. In that case, it's disgusting if they're unhealthy. You don't have to be stick thin to be healthy, but being overweight isn't a good thing. Everyone should just try and exercise and be healthy instead of worrying about weight.

At first, I thought you were talking about like blood and sex and how the body functions...I was like "whaaaaa?"

I find it funny that people whine about the media influencing everyone to be stick-thin, but we have abnormally high obesity rates. Someone's got to be wrong here, or grossly exaggerating. Personally, I've seen more people being sneered at for being skinny then for being fat because it's apparently insensitive to make fun of obese people, but if you're really skinny you're fair game. :/

Nope, there are people in this society who die of medical complications resulting from anorexia and from obesity.
They're both major problems; some people end up being overweight (whether it's their fault or not) while others become dangerously thin, but they all have self-esteem issues.

nope, you're obese. tough.

Society promotes a certain image of what "perfect" is which, yes, is unhealthy and even though eating disorders normally stem from more deep rooted phycological issues, the media can contribute to the beginnings of an eating disorder because of the image they portray. I think this post is aimed at people with bodies which are healthy and fine yet it is the media that makes feel ugly and "wrong". I say everyone should just be healthy and love themselves for who they are.
