+573 The human mind can't create or come up with new faces during your dreams. This means that every single face you see in your dreams, you have also seen them in real life whether for hours or a fraction of a second. Knowing that gives us an idea of how vast the storage capacity of the human brain is, simply amazing, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Does that explain why I see faceless people in my dreams everyonce in awhile? Because I just haven't met them yet?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I had a nightmare the other day. Long story short, there were these dead children chained to the bottom of a pool, and their faces were completely rotted. They were still on, but horribly disfigured. Does this mean I've seen something like that before? Because that's really disturbing to think about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It might be that you've seen something similar to that but I highly doubt that. Your subconscious probably associated a negative aspect to random faces because something was indirectly linked to that nightmare. It might be that you watched a horror movie, shocking news and images on tv, read something or just anything could have triggered the specific traits of your nightmare.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Idk. I've seen some messed up stuff but I've never had a creepy dream like that before. Maybe it was just all coming together and releasing in one twisted nightmare. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rreYEgbQk2k/TLEligOPthI/AAAAAAAAAcc/U3DIqcGdT7c/s320/scary+face.jpg For the faces, imagine that but blue and more about to fall off.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I really wish I didn't click that...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, didn't think it was really that bad. :$

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha it's all good

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HOLY...! I was stalking this conversation and that picture scared me...a lot. XD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Stalking isn't always fun ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's probably a good time to kick the habit. :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You've probably seen those faces before and then your mind just kind of changed it a bit to make it "rotted". Changing faces is possible in a dream. Or maybe you just saw it sometime in a horror movie.

by Anonymous 3 years ago

you should see a doctor or something

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, your dreams are generally a distorted form for interpretation of what lies in your subconscious mind.. So, it might mean deeper things. Maybe, there's something you want or need to remember about someone but that you can't, your dreams just try to make things more obvious for you by using weird mechanisms. It really depends of what you've been involved with recently whether physically or mentally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i had a dream that i was in a gang fight last night. what does that say about my subconscious? that i want to be in a gang? that i hate gangs? it was kinda call of duty style as well. does it mean that i want to be in call of duty in a gang fight? or that i just love call of duty? im curious as to what my mind is telling me...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I see why it's SO disturbing. Hmmm, it might be that lots of things just got together in a single nightmare. Your mind probably accumulated many creepy things and I think there must have been something a person told you or something you thought about the day you had the nightmare that was its origin. It was probably something abstract or 'unclear' because the images in your nightmare were very distorted. Think of it as, the creepier or weirder the dream you had, the harder it will be to know what caused it. If you wear your brain out, you'll surely find something that's probably insignificant at first but related to more situations. I'll give you an example. I once had a dream where I was

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was killing drug addicts (I said it was a dream! A creepy one). It was weird because I had no reason to dream of such a thing. But during the same day I had watched a show where it mentioned that a girl committed suicide because she couldn't bear the pain of her illness and she was refused therapeutic use of a drug (I watched the episode when it aired again). This was the link to the drug addicts. We can call it as the core source for the dream. Then I had a friend who once was attacked by someone who probably wanted money for drugs. That's the event which creates the 'motive' of the dream. So basically, your mind interpretes and links something casual to something more important which in turn makes you have certain memories and feelings. From there a 'visual' situation is created and you perceive it as your dream. I knowy i'm being kinda boring try to explain all that stuff but dream interpretation is a subject I like to talk about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just curious, how do you know that? How would anyone have discovered that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

To be honest I have no idea where I learned that but it was probably while reading articles on the internet or from a documentary. If you mean how the scientists came to that conclusion, there have been experiments going on and they analyzed the brain activity while the person was dreaming and compared it to displays of pictures of people they knew. At least that's what I remember. So I might be wrong here.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i learned this from a some stupid genius ;p

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You just learned that? I thought I told you that way before? ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah, you're the stupid genius ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We don't even use about 70% of our brain.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Consciously, you mean. We use 100% of our brain, but we're not aware of most of what's going on.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As Stepharoo said, consciously we don't use all of our brain. We make use of 100% of our brains generally but at a specific instant, we use only around 5% to 10%. But for most people it's 5%, as you go up with the percentage someone uses specificaly, that person's intellectual capabilities become higher. In short, it's similar to having a higher IQ.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@1055172 (Iwannafingeryou): Jeez people. I was just going by what someone else told me. I don't really care.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yet it still hasn't the vaguest idea where I put my ipod ... figures.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Your+name+(optional)): It could be either conditioning of your brain because you usually put it in the same places or you were doing/thinking of something else at that time, so your brain kept that information as the main one. Where your ipod is located is just deeper into your memory. After finding it, you might be like 'oh yeah that thing was here.'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

o.O That's weird because I remember making up a perfect guy and he was in my dreams... I have never seen this kind of person before. And yeah, the perfect guy is kind of lame. xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You made up his personality but not his face. You just don't remember where you saw that guy. And for my part, I don't need to dream of the perfect person, I've already found mine :-)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If I have seen him previously, then I would have stared at him for hours. xD I still don't recall any memory of him. And I can remember his face almost perfectly. And that's sweet. : )

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've had the creepiest dreams about this pedophile, weird to think he's walking around in this world somewhere...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well you remember the face, you fabricate the personality. Hope that eases your uncomfortableness slightly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Your+name+(optional)): Yea, I know but it's still weird to think that the face that scared me is actually out there somewhere

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's weird but you'll probably forget about the face sometime.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I rarely see anyone's face in my dreams. They're all usually very blurry, or the angles of the dream conveniently avoid their face, except for the rare friends or t.v characters that pop up. I don't even see my own face. My dreams are in second person, so I usually view myself from behind. ... Is my brain trying to imply I need to get out and meet some new people? Or am I just odd? XD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're not odd, your dreams are kinda though. I can't really tell you what your brain is trying to tell you because I don't know what you do exactly but you should probably go out more often.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sense every body is telling you about their dreams... some of mine: riding on pudding that came out of a toothpaste like thing that would stay in the air that you could surf on that i used to get around town with my math teacher and my boyfriend after a fire while being guided around my ipads that said "dont forget the pudding" next one. a chinese casino/ waterpark/ sex place and everytime i asked someone for directions on how to get back to my house, i lost an article of clothing. then when i was naked a guy poked both my nipples at the same time while saying "poke" and pointed me in the right direction, but when i got outside i couldnt find how to get to the main roads. next one. the freezer isle in the grocery stores had buring chambers in them and me and like 3 little girls were going to be burned there as punishment and when i burned i could feel myself sticking to the metal. next one: riding around town with my bf after a troll helped him escape from a

by Anonymous 13 years ago

askaban and going to a fried chicken place/ spa that shared a wall with his parents house so we had to be quite cuz he escaped from jail.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh nd one where i was lying down with my boyfriend and i get up to go to the bathroom and when i got back to my room he was lying down with me... but the me i saw was wearing the makeup i was wearing that day and the me from my perspective was wearing none. so i go into my moms room and shes smoking a cigarette and all the sudden i feel like im SUPER FUCKED UP on a shit load of muscle relaxers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

thats how mine are too!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I almost always see people that I know and see almost daily, and their faces are always super clear. It's like watching HDTV, in my opinion. Best dreams are after you get so blazed, though. The most lucid you'll ever have.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually the best dreams you'll ever have are called 'lucid dreams'. Lol. If you don't know about lucid dreaming just google it up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lucid dreams just describe the dreams, and the best 'lucid dreams' that you will ever have come right after getting high lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha that could be true ;D Last time I tried a giant chicken was trying to eat me at a kfh. . . It's was a *insert superlative* dream.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never been to kfh?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

when i get high i dont lucid dream...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, like after you go to sleep after being high

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah i know. that doesnt happen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe you're just different...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

maybe youre just different

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like how thigs guy is saying all this really cool intellgent stuff but his username is iwannafingeryou

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh dear, I think it's sometimes very contrasting when you see my username and what I'm saying.. but if you look at my other posts, you won't be surprised at all ;D Yes, I'm a girl. Lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't even remember my dreams, FML

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There's nothing wrong with that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I once had a dream that I was selling cough syrup to people, in exchange for other drugs, but then I got caught and had to lie to a counselor. Very weird. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most of the time, I don't remember my dreams after a couple of hours but some that I do always involve people I know or am involved with at that moment in my life so the post makes sense :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is something I never knew...it's incredible how much the human brain can do, but kind of scary also when you think about nightmares. I know that your subconscious invents the personality, but at the same time it's terrifying to think about that the people who were in your dream were in your waking life too, at some point or another. It adds another layer to the movie Inception as well. So the projections of the subconscious are all people that the dreamer has seen before, even if their killer persona does not even one iota correspond to their actual life. Every day I am more astounded by the human body and all of it's functions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You probably got a quick glance at his face. Maybe he was just in car that was passing by or he was amongst the people during a news report or he was a guy who didn't get himself very noticed. But I hope you find him again :-)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, Fingeryou, what you're saying is that the dream I had last night; A semi-medieval world, where magic and sword/shield were the dominating forces... That the girl that I met there, I've seen? Just as I'm driving around, a split second glance and my brain can remember that? I remember every detail about her face... I'd love to meet her in person. However, the personality is something we come up with, correct? Even if it is someone we know (ie, in my dream, there was a dragon and some friends... And Bill Cosby. Greatest dream ever?) Like, friend's personalities are just my mind projecting how I think they'd act, yes? I'm just finding this kinda crazy o.o

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I had a dream about selling people sandwiches once. Yeah, people sandwiches. I still remember the recipe in great detail...xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My dreams only involve people I know, but they are completely faceless... Their personalities are all "correct", as to my limited knowledge... But they have no face... Is it strange?
