+354 It's kind of mind-boggling to think of how the universe got here. Like, it couldn't have just been here all along, it had to come from somewhere, but how does a universe get made? Amirite?

This shit literally keeps me up at night.

Either you are stumped by science, or you are stumped by God, or something like that. I am really stumped on God in general right now, and it seems easier to not think about any of it

He knows too much. wary

I've also always wondered that if the universe is expanding every second, what is it expanding into?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In the beginning, there was nothing. Which exploded.

Thank you for clearing that up.

You're welcome.

"Well, scientists theorize it started with the Big Bang..." "Don't you dare..." "Fine. I choose truth." I've had this conversation before... we all know it's mind boggling. But I think we have some problems in life to solve before we find where we came from.

Something about a bearded dude in the sky. Where have you been?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

weeeeelll when a mommy universe and a daddy universe REEEAALLY love each other...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats why its called the "Big Bang"

That's the meaning of life.

and everything, including how the universe formed.

Well.. There are two major theories. 1. An all-knowing, all powerful being created it all. Pretty much bull crap. 2. Nothingness exploded in to something. Pretty much bull crap, but more likely than a god creating it all by himself. The way i see it, humans cannot physically comprehend how the universe got here, so stop trying, or at least keep your beliefs to yourself. Yeah we can make hypotheses, and create theories on how we got here, but there is no way to prove any of it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It would take me a LONG ass time explaining this to you but believe me, the theory of a god-like being creating this is still possible and strangely enough its even more likely than the atheist belief. I don't want to feel like I'm just saying shit without evidence so I'll at least give you the base of where this theory comes from. Existence itself had to come from something that can defy any law of science like cause and effect. Infinity seems to be a thing in the natural world that is non-existent because if there is an infinite past then we would never reach today. Our world had to have been made by a super natural force (as in can defy laws of science.. not pixie bullcrap) and for the laws of physics to play out perfectly for us to exist it makes you wonder about the existence of God doesn't it?

Created possibly, but supernatural no. Yes, the universe could have been created, that company CERN or whatever made that large hadron collider thing that reproduced the production of the universe, So if they did succeed in creating a small universe, they are acting as god, but not the way people think of god. We could have been created by an experiment such as this in a different universe, but nobody knows, And most likely there will never be proof of any suggestion on where the universe came from because we will never know.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

CERN was able to do that yes, but I'm not talking about just the universe I mean literally everything. If the universe was created then what created the universe? The question goes on and on into what seems like infinity but if everything was infinite then that means the past is infinite but with that thought in mind if the past were infinite time would never reach today so there for the past cannot be infinite and had to be something that could defy the natural law of cause and effect, thus making the force supernatural.

I side with science over religion, but I honestly don't believe that we're meant to know the origins of existence. I think it's meant to provoke thought, lead to other theories and other discoveries, expand the natural curiousity of humans that keeps us moving forward. But to ever be explained? No, maybe not.
