Assuming they are not wearing cargo pants or have theives pockets I have never seen pants that came with more than 4 normal pockets. Sometimes I see pants with only 2 pockets or 3 pockets but the one with 3 pockets are weid to me. It could just be that we live in different areas and the pnats are different though.

I mean usable pockets. I have four pockets on most of my pants, but a lot of them have tiny pockets which are useless.

not all the time. I use to have a pair of pants that had sort of a theives pocket design to it but the top wasn't big enough to actually put things in. For example whenever i plan to throw a piece of paper away I usually put it in my pocket so I can throw it away when I pass the trash can but I couldn't do that with these pants so I had to get up if I wanted to throw away anything.

Yes. Or deeper pockets. I don't have enough things to need or want a purse, but my things don't quite fit in my pockets.
