Just because you're turning 21 doesn't mean you have to get completely wasted, amirite?

People have different drinking ages, as here the age is 19

I refuse to get wasted because I don't like the taste of alcohol. I'm not going to drink 6+ bottles of something that tastes like shit just to "have fun", because I will more than likely have pissed myself with my face in the toilet, and that just does not sound appealing to me.

There are some variables that contribute to waking up with hangovers... How much alcohol you consume and how fast you consume it are the two obvious variables. Another factor is how much food you have in your stomach when you start drinking. It's also important to stay hydrated. Drink a beer, then drink a water. The cause of most hangovers is dehydration. Just saying.. The raging alcoholics give alcohol a bad name.

Interesting. Still not a fan of alcohol, though. Just not my thing, I guess.

There are ways to mask the alcohol so you dont even taste it. just sayin'. I'm not trying to dis-prove your point.

I was sick and in the ER on my 21st birthday. And no, it wasn't from drinking. It sucked.

What happened?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Horrible pain in my stomach and chest that turned out to be severe acid reflux. It doesn't sound that bad, but the pain was terrible.
by Anonymous12 years ago
omg acid reflux is the worst. i had it as a reaction to antibiotics & it was legitimately the worst pain i've ever been in...people don't realize how much it sucks until they've had it.

Don't be such a wimp, 18th and 21st are perfect excuses to get drunk, but any major event I get wasted (since there's virtually no restrictions to alcohol where I live)
Alcohol's an aphrodisiac, embrace the goodness <3

Perfect excuses to get drunk...? Something about that isn't hitting the nail on the head for me. In my eyes, there should never be a reason to get drunk. The bad effects outweigh the good.

Oh please, don't give me that "Oh, alcohol is bad, you shouldn't drink it" bla bla crap.
Yes, it IS bad, but in the long term. The worst immediate danger you could be put in is if you're an idiot and go drunk driving or have a weapon in which case you should not be drinking.
But 18th and 21st birthdays are the perfect excuse to get drunk. Enjoy, you're finally legal! Now you can do everything!

If you look at my comment, that's not what I said. You also contradicted yourself. You said it's only bad in the long term. Then you said you could be in immediate danger if you go drunk driving or have a weapon. Not like you could fall down the steps or anything. I just don't see why getting drunk would be a good way to celebrate anything or help you forget about a certain situation. You'd have to come back to reality anyway.
