+244 One of the most mature things people can do is show respect for their nation's leaders regardless of party affiliations, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is a line though. Some leaders are just not respectable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But usually those leaders are in countries where there is only one party.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If leaders wish to be respected, then they must first ensure that they, their party, and their policies are respectable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They also can't be closed minded

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is a fine line between respect and allowing your leaders to get away with murder....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You sound like a Liberal right now...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How? I'm simply saying we should respect leaders, but we also need to criticize them and keep an eye on them. I don't see how anybody could possibly disagree with that...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nono. I mean When you brought in the random bit about murder and for a second it seem you were giving the "government and war is murder!!!!l.. You know... Things the left is usually associated with doing... And you are... probably not lefty,,,

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha. Yeah, I thought that might come off as quite liberal when I said it, but I meant the expression, "get away with murder" rather than actual murder. I am anything but a lefty :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Btw, how far right are you?

I see. Thanks. Weird thing though: it says McCain is more right than you... But I always took him for a moderate...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Really? I would never consider McCain as more right than I am.... Where does it say that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I could be reading it wrong but if you go to the site, go to the blue sidebar and click on the "2008 presidential election" and scroll down to the two charts, the first(and more current) has him a bit to the right of you and has him much more of an authortarian. Although, could it just be him aligning himself as more conservative for the elections?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well he very well may be more authoritarian than I am, but I didn't think the quiz was very adequate in covering the military. I am a big proponent in military spending and power, but it didn't really enable me to express that. And I have no idea why he is so far right economically, because he is pretty progressive.... interesting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm around as far to the right as you are except I'm way down in the Libertarian section. Nice profile picture by the way. I approve.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm relatively libertarian compared to most Republicans... Haha. Thanks. I love Reagan.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love Reagan too, as an actor and as a politician.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never did see any of his movies...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Respect should be gained based on policies and not on their party.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Policies make the party.

Unless your leader is someone like Ahmadinejad, Gaddafi, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Fracno, Kameneni, or Kim Jong Il, in which case you should not show them any respect, stage a coup, and establish a new non-tyrannical government. One of the most cowardly things you can do is blindly respect and obey a leader who terrorizes the people. A truly mature person would stand up against a bad leader and follow a good one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fuck maturity. I'm not gonna respect some authoritative, totalitarian ass-face.
