+271 How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours. amirite?

Wait, what? Karma, the force which is essentially the universe getting it's own back, controls how people treat each other? If anything, how people treat you is YOUR Karma, and how you react is theirs.

I don't really understand this post as Karma is something you build up for your next life. You don't get the effects of your Karma in this life (other than the Karma from your old life).

But if you had a bad life before, how people treat you is still your Karma, isn't it? Because you've done wrong in the past life, you get treated awful in this one... right? I think this user is confused.

Uhm well Karma doesn't work in the negative, if that makes sense? You can only build up Karma so that good things happen. I guess losing Karma would make bad things happen? So doing bad things causes you to lose Karma and then you'll have a shitty next life.

I'm not saying HOW Karma works (but it can work in the negative) but more I think the Original Poster phrased this wrong. The comment by StacyTheHarlot explains it better than the original.

Not everything bad that happens to you is caused by people, you know. I mean there are accidents, natural disasters, etc. So, I believe that if you treat people badly, someday, one way or another you'll get what you deserve (it's close to the idea of heaven and hell when I think about it). At least I hope so. "Suum cuique." :]

Looking at the original post, it's about how people are treating each other. I didn't mention accidents ect. because it wasn't about that. But nice outlook on life, my sister is like that.

Not really. The post isn't saying that if you treat people badly, they will do the same to you or the opposite. For example, if "Person A" is a douchebag and screw "Person B" up just for fun, "Person A"'s karma is going to fuck with him sooner or later. But if "Person B" decide to be a douchebag to "Person A" too and wants to take revenge, his karma is going to be bad too. So, be nice to people and leave karma to do its job. (:

I think I get it...

The poster means that if people are mean to you, it's their Karma that they will be getting back someday, but if you react like a decent human being and don't stoop to their level, then that is your Karma that you are putting into the world, and you will be rewarded someday. But if you react at their level, then you're no better than the mean people and will therefore be getting back what they are likely to get back someday.

They phrased it a bit badly, didn't they?
