+148 You find it weird that the zodiac sign "aquarius" (that has the word "aqua" in it, as well as being the water bearer symbol) is an air sign and not a water sign, amirite?

c.f. gen. 1:6-8*. The waters ("aqua") were essentially "divided"; the word "sky" was generally interpreted by pre-Hellenistic Proto-Indo-European & Oriental astrologers as the "empty space" between the water "on earth" and water "above the earth", or the clouds. *http://bit.ly/eH8KIZ

I think it looks like waves

As bijan311 said, the symbol is waves, like of an ocean or river. Not air.

I think OP is saying air sign as in it's something up in the air. Although sky sign would be more appropriate.

No, I think OP just mistook the wave symbol to look like wind.

They're not talking about the literal symbol for Aquarius. The astrological signs are divided into four elemental groups (air, water, fire, and earth), and Aquarius is an air sign, sort of like Pisces is a water sign and Sagittarius is a fire sign. It's just strange that Aquarius, the water bearer, is an air sign and not a water sign.

Oh, alright. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Any time. I'm an Aquarius myself, so this is actually something I've wondered about for some time that no one can give me a clear answer on.
