Has no one in these comments heard about the legend of George Washington? He chopped down a cherry tree and fessed up to his father because he could not tell a lie. Of course it's just a story and probably didn't happen, but teachers still tell it to teach about his honest character.

He wasn't elected, he was appointed. Because they needed somebody to lead the nation through all the jazz going on and the council thought he was the best one. So they agreed to appoint him. Look it up.

george washington wasnt elected as president. when they were writing the constitution they just decided to name him president. but the people didnt vote on it.
