Why is the god of Christianity's name God? That's not exactly a very creative name for a god, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
The muslim god is allah which is arabic for god. Same thing right
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because He is the only God, so there you go. If you want to be specific, it is YHVH (Yahweh)

Messiah, Yahweh, Father, Creator

in the Bible when Moses asks what to say when his people ask who sent him h was to tell them I Am sent him therefore thats his name not simply God
by Anonymous13 years ago
Like others before me said, it is because we believe our God is the only God. He isn't a god, he is the God.

Hmm, let me try that. "And they heard the voice of the LORD Steve walking in the garden in the cool of the day. Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD Steve amongst the trees of the garden." Genesis 3:8

He is the ROCK.

God is a noun, technically.

A) To us (Christians), he's not A god, he's the only one there is, there fore he's God.
B) Creativity in coming up with a name is not the point, there's more to Christianity (and religions in general) than that, but I don't expect you to understand.
C)" Why is the god of Christianity's name God" is not even a sentence.
And so I suggest you do more reading on Christianity and crack open a grammar book.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It is a sentence. It's basically "Why is god's name God?" just like I could say "Why is my name Megan?".
by Anonymous13 years ago
He meant that's it's not a sentence in the grammatical sense.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I guess I'm just stupid or something but I still don't get how it's not a sentence.
"Why is(linking verb) god's name(subject) God?"
by Anonymous13 years ago
He said "Why is the god of Christianity's name God?" That's like saying, why is the girl that's posting name Megan?
by Anonymous13 years ago
er, no it isn't. to borrow from someone's example earlier, pretend the god of christianity is steve. then it becomes "why is steve's name God?".
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ah! You're right. I may have just read it wrong before, or didn't put enough thought into that one. Woops!
by Anonymous13 years ago
See? If people are confused, it probably wasn't that great of a sentence lol...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Anonymous isn't a very creative name for someone who claims to know so much about creativity...
by Anonymous13 years ago
this is along the same lines of the question, "why is our moon named 'The Moon?'" You can take it 2 ways - either be pissed at the asker for questioning the way it is, or say, "Cuz humans are lazy asses" and get over it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It wouldn't make sense for him to be Joe the God or something because there's only one of Him.
by Anonymous13 years ago
BUT the the Christianity God came first ;)
by Anonymous13 years ago
Are you retarded, or do you not know how languages work? You think the word "God" always existed, and modern English was just too lazy to come up with a new name for their God, so they just used what was on the table? Go play in traffic...
by Anonymous13 years ago
If you think about it it's actually very creative, it is just diversly used. Whoever came up with it was being extremely creative.
by Anonymous13 years ago
For all you know, the name "God" could have come around before the English noun "god'.

The Toltec Aztecs had gods like Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, Itztlacoliuhqui-Ixquimilli,Macuilcozcacuauhtli,Chalchiuhtlatonal, and Chiconahuiehecatl. No wonder the Toltecs had such a hard time developing a comprehensive written language.
