+202 How did anyone know that it was Voldemort that killed James and Lily. The only living witness of these events was Harry, who was a mere baby, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

wow...how do you think cops/detectives find murderers? Evidence, motives, DNA, etc.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what evidence was there?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is the wizarding world, they don't need DNA!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because the Dark Mark was above Thd house, and the secret keeper was Voldemort's servant. Also, Voldemort was there for a reason: because of the prophecy, so how could it be someone else.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

who put the dark mark up. Voldemort was alone

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Dark Mark is the sign of Voldemort, and says the he had been there. Also: refer to my other evidence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no some has to cast the dark mark after someones been killed. in the flashback in Dh, Voldemort never did that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, well still: the secret keeper was voldemorts servant and motive - he was there because of the prophecy, no one else knew about that except for Dumbledore and Trelawney - who didn't even remember!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no one knew wormtail was the secret keeper or a servant of voldemort

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just because know one knew doesn't mean it isn't true,

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know that voldemort never put up the Dark Mark? Besides, I'm pretty sure that if Voldemort himself killed someone, it would travel around the death eaters and eventually to the rest of the wizarding community.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was implied though. Rowling wouldn't waste time writing that when we already pretty much know.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OMFG NERDS ARGUING OVER A MURDER THAT NEVER HAPPENED IN A BOOK ABOUT WIZARDS!!! GET A LIFE! DARK MARK SOUNDS LIKE A FUCKING YUGIOH CARD!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Get a life, troll!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sir, you are an orange hat. Go sit atop someone's head.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe he's like the headless hats except he turns you orange! I wanna try

by Anonymous 13 years ago

SO THAT'S where Snooki gets it!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HAHA minus 71...i should just quit at this amirite thing

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hahaha, nerds arguing over who killed who in Harry Potter...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

AVADA KEDAVRA!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@1168817 (QuaintPancakes): Ok? I didn't mean it maliciously. I've never read the books and I think it's nerdy how people obsess over it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You lost credibility at the part where you said the "I've never read the books..."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe with you, but not as a general rule. Just because I haven't read the books doesn't mean the obsession isn't stupid and annoying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The only thing stupid and annoying is you calling people nerds when you haven't given the series a chance.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do I have to have tried drugs to know that they can ruin your life? Most of my friends have read it, and they don't think it's that amazing. My opinion may change if I read it, but I'm entitled to my opinion as of now. You sound just a tad brainwashed by the way you can't seem to accept that there are opinions of Harry Potter fans that differ from yours. Also, I'm not judging the book, I'm judging the fans; I don't have to give the book a chance to feel that people that masturbate to words on page are annoying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't think anyone here is masturbating over text, we're just discussing a series we enjoy. Your original comment calling everyone nerds was inflammatory (not to mention completely redundant, given the commenter above you), and ungrounded considering you've never even read the series. Like you said, your opinion might change if you read the series, so what gives you the right to judge anyone? (Your words: "I'm judging the fans..."). By the way, I find it very ironic that a religious person is accusing people of masturbating over words on a page.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That comment wasn't meant to be taken literally, fyi. It's a hyperbole. Last time I checked, the only people that get mad and offended at being called a nerd (jokingly, that much was obvious) are about 12 or so. My friends and I call each other 'nerd' and worse, get over it. Judging may have been the wrong term for it; 'expressing my opinion of' is more fitting. Like I said, I am entitled to my opinion, regardless of whether or not I have read the series. I have had numerous influences that caused me to form my opinion, and it is what it is. That's funny that you should say that, because you're making quite a generalization there. When in my profile that you apparently visited did I say that I believe in the Bible, hmm? Get your head out of your ass. (And before you jump on that, when did I say that I never cuss. Just in case.)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not taking any of your comments literally. Have a nice day

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And also, who cares if my comment is redundant? Most of the other comments on here are redundant as well. Most of the comments on amirite are redundant, for that matter.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*who killed whom

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Priori Incantatem-4th book. Read it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm guessing you read Dan B. on Sparklife?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well obviously he put the dark mark up even if it wasn't shown in the movies they don't include a lot of important stuff in the movies but they are in the books. also priori incantatem wouldn't work because they wouldn't have voldemort's wand.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, the Dark Mark signified that either Voldemort or some of his Death Eaters killed Lily and James. The fact that Voldemort disappeared shortly after meant that it was probably Voldemort. Meanwhile, Dumbledore knew that the Potters recently switched Secret Keepers and he knew that Voldemort personally wanted the Potters dead, because of the prophecy by Trelawney that he heard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(wobbuffet):but in the flashback scene of DH Voldemort never put up the dark mark and he was alone so a death eater couldn't. And Dumbledore didn't know that the Potters swiched secret keepers otherwise he would've known that Sirius was innocent in PoA. and also only Dumbledore know of the prophecy so unless he told the whole country that Voldemort killed them(which i don't think he did) no one should have known what happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Obviously, we've got a murderer in Godric's Hollow! He's climbing in yo windows, he snatchin' yo parents up, he's gonna kill them so ya need to hide the kid, hide the wands, and hide yo broomsticks cause he's cursing errybody out here!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well they knew this because Harry was the boy who lived. Voldy went away when he tried to kill Harry, and Dumbledore figured out what happened when he went to pik up Harry. And Dumbledore knew about the prophecy so he was able to put things together and he told the rest of the wizarding world, and hes a respectable guy so everyone believed him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah but everyone seemed to know wat happened before Dumbledore piked up harry from godric's hollow

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Harry does remember it, becasue in the first book, he keeps seeing a green light and stuff in his dreams, and he hears his parents thoughts in book 3 when the dementors are near him....haha i couldn't put that into words really well, but for all you pott heads, you get it, right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah in the first chapter harry's a baby so how could they ask a baby what happened?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no, like when he's still a kid before he knows he's a wizard, he see's a green light in a lot of his dreams? and then when he realizes that his parents were really killed by avada kedavra...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In the first book Voldemort admits to killing Harry's parents. He in fact tells how they "died begging for mercy" (pg294 chapter17 the man with two faces).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah but i mean in the first chapter everyone knew what happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

of course everyone knew it was huge news! the Dark Lord was "dead" and was never coming back (supposedly). The Death Eaters knew especially Snape and Wormtail. and Sanpe was on Dumbldore's side by that point in time therefore Dumbldore knew everything and in a wizarding community like Godrics hollow the neighbors would have been witnessess to the big explosion and it was Halloween therefore lots of witnesses.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The wizards who arrived at the scene probably used Legilimency on Harry. Just because he was a baby doesn't mean he didn't have it in his memory right after, however temporarily. Also, in DH when Harry visits the house, it shows irreparable damage and signs of Dark magic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But didn't Hagrid get Harry out before anyone else arrived?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True. They could have used it on him shortly after, though. And like I said, the destroyed house and (possibly) Dark Mark kind of would have given it away.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think that they got it from logic, rumors, and knowledge spread about. Logic: Somebody, a wizard, went to Godric's Hollow and destroyed the house along with killing Lily and James Potter. So, it must have been a very powerful wizard. Also, Voldemort mysteriously vanished right after that. Logically, the two things are connected. Rumors: His death eaters might have known a bit of the plan and could have spread it around. i.e "Hey, Voldy was gonnna go kill the Potters, and the Potters are dead. I guess it was him!" And real knowledge: Dumbledore knew about the prophecy and realized that Voldemort would go after the Potters, especially Harry. Because the Potters were dead and an attack was obviously attempted on Harry, Voldemort was the logical option. This could have easily spread through the teachers and out into the general population. And so, everything points to Voldemort. I am such a geek.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ahhh.....it makes me feel good that i understood everything you all just said....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Also nobody else is able to locate them, Peter Pettigrew told only Voldemort of their location.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Good point....they probably explain it somewhere in the books though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Cuz Grawp said so.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There had been special protection put over Harry's house because they KNEW Voldemort was after them. They being Dumbledore and many other members of the Order of the Phoenix. When the Potters turned up dead the same night Voldemort disappeared into oblivion, Dumbledore and the general public knew what happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

james and lily die?! spoiler alert..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it was pretty obvious...
