+434 Turns out 3DS doesn't work if you close one eye. Guess Nintendo really is serious about clamping down on pirates this hardware generation, amirite?

I'm so mad at Nintendo for the 3DS... (not because I'm a pirate, though. XD because I can't see 3D.)

Why can't you see 3D?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because I was cross-eyed as a child. If your eyes aren't straight forward at a certain age, you lose the ability to see 3D effects.

lol excellent pun

You need two eyes for viewing in three dimensions... What did you expect, pirates?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You need two eyes to percieve depth.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You still perceive plenty of depth with only one eye, just not as much. And the reason 3D doesn't work with only one eye is because you need two images (from your two eyes) coming into your brain to create the effect, not because of reduced depth perception.

When you close one eye, you percieve depth the same way you would when watching TV.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But you still perceive depth. What's your point

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When you are watching TV, you can still see "depth" because things farther away are smaller and becuase of the way the shadows are. When you close on eye you're not seeing actual depth, just something that looks like depth.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on this but it seems to me that if you use visual cues like shadows and size of objects, you are still perceiving depth. What's the difference between "actual" depth and "something that looks like depth"? (your words.) Anyway my original point was about 3d effects, not depth perception.

Who is the person who keeps voting my comments down? If you think I'm wrong, respond so I can know better.
