+324 If you're ever reading a bit of classical literature or an impressively thick book on public transport, you can't help but hold it at a 90 degree angle in order to prove to fellow passengers you're not one of the plebs keeping Dan Brown or Twilight in the 'top 100 best sellers' lists, amirite?

And there's something wrong with Dan Brown? And I prefer pole, not pleb, please.

Who gives a fuck what you're reading? What you read or do not read doesn't make you better or worse than anyone.

Actually, I constantly judge strangers on their choice of literature, and how trendy and/or obscure it is. Anyone reading something from Oprah's bookclub is getting kicked off the bus.

I don't give a fuck what people think I'm reading. If they actually give a fuck what some stranger is reading, that's their problem. But never clump Dan Brown in with Stephenie Meyer. He's actually got talent. Meyer is just a sexually frustrated housewife.

well not only do i not care what people think im reading, i never care what others are reading either, so i see no reason to think others care what IM reading.

Yes I also announce what song I'm listening to so no one assumes it's Justin Bieber.

I don't see what's wrong with either of those authors. Reading classic books doesn't make you smarter than someone who reads other kinds of books. There's this thing called individuality, maybe you haven't heard of it.

They'll prolly assume it's for school..? So no.

And how is reading a Dan Brown book bad?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dan Brown is amazing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

See I also disagree with the hating of Dan Brown here, the Robert Langdon sagas as well as his other books like Digital Fortress and Deception Point are entertaining

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They're called classics for a reason.

If I may quote the great Stephen Fry, the Da Vinci Code is 'arse-gravy of the worst kind,'...I admit Brown can write a suspenseful novel, but doesn't anyone else find his writing style embarrassingly mediocre and cliche? If you're seeking out a light holiday read then fine, but those who hark on about it being historically and factually accurate...get out of my face.

You used those big words on purpose.

No problem. It helped prove your point.
