+225 Why is the symbol for a toilet just a pictogram of a man and a woman? If you think about it, the first thing that comes to mind when you see a man and a woman together, shouldn't be that they're taking a dump, amirite?

It's not the symbol for toilet, it's the symbol for unisex washroom. Separate parts of it are to show where women are allowed and where men are. Those are the only rooms with people symbols on them in the first place, they don't need to be identified as washrooms any way else.

I know we know understand pictograms of people as "washroom" without any problem. That's in fact the joke.

they aren't together they're on separate doors.

True, when you get to the door, but i mean the sign for directions. By the way, that's just as strange, seeing a picture of a lady, you're supposed to automatically assume she represents a toilet :)
