I've had to stop letting myself make up scenarios, because I keep ending up disappointed.

Dude, I am sooo glad you posted that! Now I know I'm not the only one who actually does that! I know what its like to have to force yourself to stop making up scenarios because of the constant disappointment. However, when your sitting in a really boring class drifting into daydreams all the time, that is REALLY hard to do!
