+617 People with special needs don't CHOOSE to have their disability. Not accepting/belittling someone who is less fortunate than you, because of something they cannot help, is disgusting, amirite?

Why isn't this understood? We REALLY need an amirite? post to tell us this?

(Chauncy Pickles): you have NO idea what its like to see a mentally disabled child get made fun of, then. It's horrifying. There ARE people out there and maybe she was just trying to let people know her point of view (:

Interesting choice of closing remarks.

Believe me, from what I've seen, we need them.

Of course! I hate it when people actually try to be accepting.

They don't choose to have their disability. But they do choose how they handle it. Using it as an excuse and not trying to make up for the disability is just as rude as making fun of them. And before someone gets all self-righteous on me, I have autism and I got my act together after the diagnosis and hardly anybody knows or can tell I have it, so special needs kids can do the same and get THEIR act together, too.

(Samantha Jane): Congrats to you, that is really amazing. One of my friends has autism and I never even knew until his sister told me. Autism is a disability that can be controlled by some people, but this post isn't directed specifically at that. It's representing all disabilities, including ones that a person has no control over.

I have autsim and hardly anyone knows at my school. So when I don't do homework or a project or something and they ask why and I say I didn't understand it at all and their help wasn't helpful, they give me this sad sort of look. And then when I don't need help the teacher will sit with me and ignore someother that need help. I find it kind of annoying sometimes.

I love children with special needs. I think they're beautiful in every way, and deserve to be treated respectfully. Just like the rest of us. They have rights and freedoms as well as us, and putting them down is putting yourself down, because those who believe that way I do will only have little respect for you.

"Gayyy" . . . so you hate them because they're happy?
