+172 people who have had scoliosis surgery: it's annoying when people rudely ask about/point out your posture. But you don't mind when people do it in a nice way. amirite?

My sister had that surgery when her back was at like 30 degrees. Now she's getting plastic surgery to make her shoulder blade fit in a bit nicer at the back. We still mock her for the titanium bars though lolol

My older sister and I both had he surgery (her poles were just in her lower back, so her posture wasn't affected like mine) and we make fun of eachother, but it sucks when a dumb whoretits of a person says something like "you walk like you have a stick shoved up your ass! hahaha!"

I kind of don't get this because my sister(apparently everyone's sister has scoliosis) had the surgery and got a rod in the majority of her spine but it just made her have really good posture. Most people only give her shit about the scar.

wow, that's pretty weird.

I had scoliosis surgery for a 58 degree curve and sometimes people point out my 'rib hump' thingie, but not really... I'm considering having my ribs broken to remove the hump though o_o

That's a completely stupid way to phrase that. "You dislike it when people rudely talk about [personal problem] but you don't mind when they do it nicely."? Well no duh.

Yeah but it's not like it never happens.

I have mild scoliosis, but I don't want the surgery. Chiropractors are a lot less painful. It's irritating when people don't understand why you sit and walk weird.

I just bitch at them "I HAVE SCOLIOSIS LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" it really makes people feel bad smirk

I didn't realise so many people had it. When I tell people I had a scoliosis, their like, 'what's that?'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that happens to me too sometimes. Trust me, you're not alone.

Mine is mild. I only have to wear a brace which I guess is better than surgery.

i had scoliosis surgery for a 70 degree curve and can some one tell me why they removed 2 of my ribs? sorry i was 11 when they did it and i have never really got why they did that?

Because a scoliosis can cause the rib cage to rotate, so it is easier to remove them than fix both the scoliosis and ribs. Also, the removed ribs can help to straighten the spine.
