+333 when I'm feeling down about being single, I try to remember there are plenty of fish in the sea, just in case I can't find any men, amirite?

As a man, I'm slightly offended at being called a "fish".

but you aren't being called a fish. it's a joke about desperate women resorting to being with actual fish.

I know. I was just joking.

not only did it not translate at all through text, it wasn't very funny to begin with.

Oh ok. You want to be an ass. Fair enough. Well, to be frank, the post isn't funny. The idiom is often abused by idiots who can't love. Furthermore, people who feel down about their relationship non-status are letting the weaknesses and insecurities of others in society negatively affect their view of singleness. Plus, not only is it impossible to copulate and procreate with a fish, but they are horribly boring to watch. Stick with mammalian humanoids.

no, I don't want to be an ass. It didn't make sense as a joke, and I felt the need to make that clear. and if you want to be technical, yes, you're completely right. but you miss the key aspect of the post. it is not to wave around the phrase like roadkill, or suggest that fish are in any way interesting. it was a crack at beastiality, and an alteration of a commonly expressed opinion.
