-26 Girls: if you owned a time machine, you'd go back to a time when guys were chivalrous..when they held open doors for you, when they stood outside your window quoting Shakespere, when they wanted to be with the girl they liked and not the one they wanted to get into the pants of. You'd go back to the times when romance novels were all around you in you very own life... amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I would go back in time when women said thank you, let the guy in,didn't come off as sexist for generalizing all males into the pervert file, and when they had sense

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Too bad all those romance novels are fiction. Pretty sure it was never like that. EVER.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's funny cuz I quote Shakespeare and expect the chicks to come running, but they never do...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What back to the time when we had no rights, weren't allowed to own any property, get an education, were restricted to what jobs their were allowed to do and were paid much less than men. Their only worth was on how many sons we could give birth to. When husbands were legally allowed to beat their wives and even rape them. When women were expected to be meek and obedient to their husbands/fathers/brothers or any other male. Where most marriages were arranged and women were not allowed to divorce their abusive husbands yet he could divorce her if she did not give him a son? No thank you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's what I was thinking. Glad someone came to say it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Took the words right out of my mouth.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

EXACTLY. My god, do women not realize that men can be courteous and kind and not be chivalrous? And I see a lot of men practicing chivalry anyway. All that aside, do you honestly believe all men took the time and effort to quote Shakespeare in the middle of the night. Girl, that was in movies and in a few romantic cases. That wasn't reality.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly what I was thinking. You couldn't pay me to go back to that shit.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Usually guys like that are ugly. And girls don't trust hot guys like that so they all turn into dicks so they can get a girl.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How would you know if a family with chivalry as a good value bears an extremely hot son? I have to admit, it seems to get to many of their heads sometimes but you can't generalize that all hot guys are dicks and ugly guys are chivalrous. Besides, ugly and hot are relative. What's ugly to me may not be ugly to you and vice versa.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't say all. I said usually. Hot guys are strong, symmetrical, manly and most of them are confident in this and know this. Scientifically women are more attracted to them as sex partners only and like guys that are less manly to settle down with and take care of their children. The wimpy seemingly trustworthy guys women are more likely to marry notice this and feign the confidence and arrogance type A males have to get the attention of women. From what I understand from Pyschology 1 anyway.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ya I'd love to go back to a time when I had no rights, but hey, at least guys held doors open for me!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Even if it was, girls will still say "OMG HE'S LIKE SOO CREEPY AND DESPERATE LOL" Let the flame war begin.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HA I was about to say this. Complete agreement

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Quote Shakespeare outside a girl's window and see how fast she calls the cops.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When you likely married your first cousin...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

YES! I'M FIRST TO SAY THAT YOU SPELLED TIME MACNE WRONG, AND THAT YOU SHOULD USE IT TO GO TO THE FUTER

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That joke is dead.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(cry2) I've never said it before

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know that feel, bro. *brofist*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay yeah, now put down your fictional media and have a look at some non-fiction about those times and what men were actually like.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There was never a time period like she described in her post.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, I think that's what I said. But it's good that you reinforced it for me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know, I didn't mean to correct you or anything XD I was agreeing with you! Sorry if that didn't come out the way I intended.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When people actually knew "chivalry" was a code of noble conduct rather than a "be nice to women" rule?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most of the girls who think like this don't deserve that kind of respect from guys.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do you really think that there was a time when men didn't want to get in women's pants? I'm pretty sure they were just more subtle about it. There are as many nice guys and as many assholes today as back then

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. Boys will be/were boys, no matter what time period. They just had nicer sounding language back then.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd go back to the 60s... The Beatles!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

and Vietnam /:

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure that time never existed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You can't open doors yourself? Honestly, is it that much to ask? Stop making men look like crippled, useless beings who are too busy derping around to bother opening your goddamn door. Most of us aren't helpless, our lives don't center around romance. If you want to be a swept-off-your-feet housewife, fine. Realize some of us actually have other interests outside a Shakespeare novel.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Back to a time when women couldn't vote, go to school, or get a job. Sure, men should be chivalrous, but women should realize they actually have it better now then "back then." It was never like you described.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd love to go back the Shakespearean era, but only because I'm a sucker for cool dresses. Otherwise, hell no. Your post is nothing more than a romanticized fantasy, I'm afraid. That time period was full of violence, corruption, religious turmoil, extreme racism and sexism, and on top of all that even those awesome dresses would get pretty uncomfortable after a while. Also, fuck being treated like a dainty flower just because I'm a woman. If I were in a relationship, I'd want to be an equal.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You would adore going back to the lovely days when men were regarded as superior human beings? When women were regarded as the spawn of the devil? When men were allowed to beat and rape their wives? When women couldn't vote? When women were told to stay silent, which cost us half of the population's history and thoughts today? Back to when women's job was to be invisible? You know Aristotle? He had the same mindset as you. Sure, women are manipulative, not fully human, stupid liars. But, be nice to them boys, and open the door for em. Are you crazy? I'd like to say that those days you described never existed. Unless you were part of the ELITE nobility, no one did that. And even if you were in the nobility, people just spoke nicer to women. At the end of the day, it was just one big marriage arrangement to give birth to sons. Chivalry is very controversial topic, but I will say this: You must act like a lady to bag a gentleman. It is rare indeed to see a TRUE lady nowadays. Just because you are a woman does not mean you deserve chivalry. But if you take the time and effort to look, act, and speak like a lady, then and only then can you demand chivalry.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nah, im black. i dont think romance would be worth all the shit i would get, ha. im pretty much good...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hahahahahahahaha except you wouldn't have any rights.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

On a side note, this is might need to be a new time macne.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This post gave me cancer.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I fucking hate, FUCKING HATE when I see those damn posts on FB about how guys should "Lend a girl her your hoodie, kiss her on the face and look deep into her soul with a passionate daze, walk 3 miles to her house in the rain, wipe away her tears, etc" Sure, it's nice for someone (ANYONE, in fact) to do those things. But ladies, you gotta put in the effort too. And no, not all guys are assholes- the guys you LIKE are assholes. If you open your damn eyes, release that stupid "friend-zone" and look around, you will find some pretty decent guys. Btw, I have a vagina.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd rather see dinosaurs...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Excellent post !! SpearmentMilk and several others with similar points of view have my support. Some of the most interesting reading in a long time.
