+305 Some people seem to complain about nowadays' music sucking and they wonder why. It's very simple, in the 1970s, 80s and early 90s, mainstream music was rock, while nowadays it's this electronic beatless music shit. Amirite?

Meanwhile rock sucks compared to the 300 years of classical music that preceded it.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, 1000 times yes.

Every generation has it's bad music and good music. The thing is radio stations only choose to play the good music of the past which is why we feel like our music is terrible in comparison. We have good and bad songs too and in the future only the good songs will be kept.

dubstep > rock

dubstep is awesome. but you can't say that one genre is better than the other. that's like comparing different fruits when you could be comparing different types of the same fruit.

Not really, it's more dance music then electronic-techno, and most mainstream songs have beats.

1969 saw the release of Led Zeppelin's eponymous album, "Yellow Submarine," The Velvet Underground's eponymous album, The Who's "Tommy," CCR's "Willy and the Poor Boys" (with "Fortunate Son"), "Abbey Road," and "Led Zeppelin II." Below is a link to the top song of 1969. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JywK_5bT8z0

Do you mean, "1969 saw the release of THE BEATLES eponymous album, 'YELLOW SUBMARINE.'" Or "1969 saw the release of LED ZEPPELIN'S eponymous album, 'YELLOW ZEPPELIN'." ?

Except most every song I hear on the radio that I think sucks has a really strong beat. It's not that it's lacking beat, it's lacking depth and musicality.

I totally agree with @Sqwancho. Oftentimes, they focus too much on the beat and have almost nothing else to contribute. Like Lady Gaga's first album. Great Techno beats, but she didnt really have much to say till her work following The Fame.
