+197 You've learned why you shouldn't put metal in the microwave the hard way, amirite?

I learnt it from "that 70s' show"

You know those Styrofoam containers where you put hamburgers in? Well when I was small, I was left home alone for one night and my parents left me with some food that included fries and a hamburger. Since I wasn't very hungry, I left my food for about an hour until I got hungry, where I proceeded to microwave said burger because it was cold. Silly 10 year old me then put the styrofoam container into the microwave for about a minute while I poured some soda when I heard loud BANG! "Oh fuck" I thought. I then turned the microwave off and I took out the styrofoam container(which was burning hot and had a hole at the top while my burger was somewhat black.) and opened the windows to clear the smoke(which there was a lot off.) This activated the fire alarm which prompted a visit from the fire department as well as soaking everything in the kitchen and living room. Worst day ever. Regardless to say, my parents didn't leave me home alone until I was 13 again.

I have never had a problem with Styrofoam, forks, spoons, or anything, really. Except for one time when, for fun, I put a bag of Olive Garden breadsticks in there, even though it said, in all caps, "DO NOT USE IN MICROWAVE". It burst into flames milliseconds after I pushed the start button. That doesn't really count, though, because I wasn't being ignorant.

No, I was just an obedient child :)

No, my parents told me not to. I did accidentally do it once. Chick-fil-a bags the sandwiches come in are lined with a thin layer of metal. Within a few seconds a tiny flame appeared. No harm was done though.

I'd refer to it as the fun way

It makes cool blue lightning!

I once put a jar of peanut butter in the microwave, and a little bit of the metal was left on... It flashed pretty colors!
