+200 Once you've spent 5 hours on a math cheat sheet writing in 3.5 it becomes as precious to you as the ring is to Gollum. Amirite?

what do you mean 3.5?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Like on word when you choose a writing size and it's ususally at 12 or something. Well on a cheatsheet you cram everything in so you write REALLY small, around a 3.5 size :P

1) Press reply to reply to the poster above :) 2) Surely it would be easier to revise for those 5 hours than creating a cheat sheet? And wouldnt it be obvious if you had a piece of paper on your desk?

Actually making the cheat sheet helps with memorizing the stuff though, because you really have to think about what you're writing down so you can understand it later. It's like, when I study I make hundreds of cue cards and simply making them helps me learn. Then going over them just adds to it.

I make cue cards for my exam too! (to be fair I should be doing that right now...) But what I was confused about was that in the actual exam, having them there in front of you, so you can have example of how to find x, rather than them testing you on what you have learnt.

Yeah. Sometimes it's needed though. My friend just graduated with a science degree and in her micro bio exam they had cheat sheets. Just the size of a cue card and you can fill it with anything you'll NEED to remember.

Wow, I mean I'm only doing A Levels at the moment, so have no idea the amount of work needed at degree level. I often understand that with science degrees there is so much to learn and I found it hard at GCSE! I think cue card sizes are fine to use at such a high level of education, but at younger ages its best to see how they do without that help as it can affect the attention they get at a later point. But I do understand your point and know that in many cases things that are learnt are NEEDED within exam conditions.

There is simply sooo much information you really can't remember it all. Generally cheat sheets are just used to refer to when you want to make sure it's right. I'm taking an arts degree, but my minor is science, and it's crazy. With high school you get 10 months of stuff spaced out quite well. With university you get 8 months and it's jam packed. You learn 10 times what you do in high school in a year (depending on how many courses you take, it can be quite easy if your course load is small and full of easy stuff). It's pretty tough.

Oh no haha! We wereallowed the sheet! Thats just what we call it. It was anything you could fit on the designated sheet, so i wrote really small to make it all fit

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh ok haha, no that would be stupid. I guess it's a bit of an exageration, but I wrote REALLY small :P

Do you just not even see the "Reply" button? I know it's on the mobile or iPhone one, so wtf?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sorry! I'm new at this

I don't understand those who use cheat sheets (when they're not allowed). After spending all that time and writing it down, you'll have it fresh in your mind anyway.
