+426 In Spanish, every object has a gender. My bed (cama) is a female. I lay on her every night. That's not awkward at all, amirite?

Why awkward? it's just a bed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

well cama is obviously not masculan cause it ends in a, and the user is not a man so she's laying on a girl every night which if shes not a lesbian, yeah its awkward.

In my language bed is also female. I'm not a lesbian and I don't think it's awkward. You're just making a big deal out of it... grow up. smile

In French, every object has a gender. My bed (lit) is a male. I lay on him every night. That's not awkward at all.

it isn't considering you're prolly gay xD

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What? I'm a girl.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think all spanish words are funny. It makes that class less suck and makes conversations entertaining. http://www.amirite.net/581863

Yeah... a noun's "gender" loses its novelty really quickly when you speak the language fluently. It is not awkward. "I'm going to sleep on the bed." — "Voy a dormir en la cama."

I find it more awkward that you're wearing bacon flavored panties.

Your username is gold.

it's really the word itself that has gender, not the object it refers to. Sometimes two words with different genders can refer to the same object.

All you people trying to explain to everyone else how its not awkward because its just a word in Spanish...or whatever you're trying to say. PLEASE, for the love of God, learn to take a joke.

Lolwut, maybe it's awkward when you say you lay on HER, in which case it would be awkward in Spanish as well since you're not even mentioning a bed. Nearly every language other than English has grammatical gender, so this only seems weird to English-speakers.
