+339 British people are awfully touchy about the whole "Philosopher's Stone" to "Sorcerer's Stone" thing, amirite?

inb4 oversensitive americans/english start a comment war

by Anonymous 12 years ago

there's no need to start a war when we already know who's better.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly America is obviously better

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, it would fit in America if Flamel was a ponderer or thinker (And no, Brits, I will not argue with you.)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

and me and i'm canadian PHILOSOPHER'S stone people please just call it that i don't care if u don't know what philosopher means

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Note how many Canadians are siding with the Brits. They seem more mad about it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're just mad about being the less cool little brother

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, Canada is America's hat.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It makes a tiny bit of sense why they changed it though. The book wouldn't have been as popular in America if it referenced British culture. If there had been a bit of a preexisting reputation for the books (ie, if it hadn't been the first) it would have been fine, I think.

I like how the comments are perfect examples of why this post was made.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

they should have renamed it to "alchemist's stone" then

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How many kids know what alchemy is?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

just as many kids in britain who know what a philosopher is

by Anonymous 12 years ago

American kids don't know what an alchemist is at all. I didn't know until I was like 14.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i really dont think it matters...they only changed the title because philosopher's doesnt make sense in america. alchemists DOES make sense. who cares if little kids have to look it up? besides, I knew what an alchemist was when i read the books. im prob not the only one

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Speak for yourself! Most kids know what alchemy is

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know any kids under 15 that know what alchemy is. That might just be because I live in a dumb town.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know about anybody else, but Alchemist sounds cool, and I would've read it...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

True, it does sound awesome.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Isn't there an Alchemist series or something?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...is there? I havent heard of one, but if there is one I'd love to get my hands on it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No we're not, we don't care what you call it :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Please refer to above comments.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're also touchy about the spellings of words like color and gray, their accents, and the difference between England/London/the UK

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm in New Zealand and I had no idea they'd changed the name from philosophers stone.
