+348 There is nothing wrong with being a Christian who doesn't attend church, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a ton of lit on it. not recomended but not wrong... Half my library is on the flaws of christians/modern christianity/the church. and there are a lot of them, if you are my denomination then you are BETTER off staying home. it is full of political back stabbers, heretics and hypocrits.

Christianity is nothing but judgmental hypocrites. It is so annoying. Ghandi was right: the concept of Jesus and Christianity is great, but Christians themselves aren't so great...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

as long as you live a life that mirrors christian beliefs and ideals I guess

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you don't go to church, you don't take communion, and you should take communion, so you should go to church...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It doesn't matter if you go to church or not. For example, if standing in a garage doesn't make you a car, how would going to church make you a christian?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True. A math teacher at my high school is one of the best Christians I've ever met, but he never goes to church. He just follows it like most church-goers say they do.

The Bible commands us to break the bread one the first day of the week. so by not going to church (esp. on the first day of the week) is sinning. So as a Christian, it is your duty to go on the first day each week, taking communion and worshiping GOD. it's the least we could do, anyway, right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, you're classifying not going to church as sinning, but if you are Christian/ a follower of Christ, then wouldn't you also know His blood covers those sins, as long as you have the right heart and belief in Him?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do know. Because I am a Christian, CONSERVATIVE. HIS blood allows us to be forgiven but then we are also commanded to follow HIM. We try our best not to sin, and if you do, you need to have Godly sorrow and repent. then ask for forgiveness THEN we're forgiven. take this: your mom says "i'll give you 20 dollars, but you have to get up, come over here, and get it from me." you won't receive the money unless you do what she says. you have to EARN your way into heaven; doing what GOD commands us to do and not do what HE didn't.

Your beliefs are very common amongst Christians, but my beliefs are a little different in that yes you must make an effort towards God and Christ in order to be saved, but it's more about strengthening your relationship with Jesus, through which the Holy Spirit will fill you and guide you away from wrong. I do not, however, believe in the ritualistic "motions" you go through.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can't really earn your way to Heaven. Good works alone cannot get you there. I agree that it is more of a relationship with Jesus, and not just going through the motions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, it's not wrong. Some people just haven't found the right church. Maybe try looking around? It really helps your faith to be surrounded by strong Christians who really have a passion for getting to know the Lord. Fellowship is a great thing, so try to attend a church, at least somethimes! :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's perfectly alright to not go to church if you're Christian. I'm not sure if it's a sin to not go but would God rather you not go to church or not believe in Him?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm catholic! I pray and I believe in god and jesus...I just don't attend church. Most of my family doesn't....lol That doesn't lessen my faith though! <3

One of the commandments is to remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy. Those who don't go to church aren't bad people, and those who do aren't always good people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It isn't a sin to not go to church, but not exactly recommended either. It is a chance for us to fellowship and grow in our relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. I can't imagine my life without my church family!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have teenage brothers and sisters that think church is a waste of time, my dad never likes the priests, but me and my mom are never against it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Depends if your church is bs or not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

according to the catholic church it's a mortal sin. i'm not saying you're committing a horrible sin, i'm just stating what the catholic church believes, having grown up in that faith myself. now that i'm a little farther away from the faith, i disagree with that statement.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Of course there's nothing wrong with it. Having your own personal relationship with your deity is your business. Going to a building to do it means nothing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well its true that we are forgiven of our sins but we have to full heartedly repent. Which means we aint gonna do it again. Now i kno we are human, we arent perfect, but God gave his only begotten son's life for us. Did he have to? No. Why did he do it? No one really knows. I believe that he did so so we could worship him out of our own free will. I think people are forgettin the sole purpose for going to church. Its not to gossip or to go talk to our friends. Its to get closer to God and learn his word. Now sure, you can do that somewhere else but sometimes its best to hear the word in His house and hear what the preacher has to say. We can learn things about the scriptures that we never even thought of. I believe in going to church but i dont believe it should be forced onto someone. That will only make then want nothing to do with God and none of us want that.

I'm in the vice versa scenario. I'm not a Christian, but my stepdad makes me go to church. It's really annoying when they automatically assume you're a Christian if you're in a church.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think its ok as long as you maintain a healthy relationship with God and Jesus. Y'know, do stuff like pray, study the bible and follow Christian morals!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Going to church makes you no more Christian than being in a garage makes you a car
