"If you're reading this and it's in English, thank a teacher" because your teacher taught you to read English. "If you think a Veteran takes care of pets, don't thank that teacher" because veteran sounds similar to veterinarian, but if you think a veteran is a vet, don't thank the teacher because they didn't teach you properly. Get it now?

The more often used quote is "If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you're reading it in English, thank a veteran." as a way of showing that soldiers defended our country so that we still speak the language we spoke long ago (or other patriotic BS, I don't really buy into that stuff.)

You "don't buy into" thanking veterans? Why don't you move somewhere else, if you don't appreciate what we have in this country. They're the ones who have fought for our freedom, who have ensured that we remained free.
