Omg! that sucks. Its wonder my dad doesn't do that

That's not overprotective, that's just your dad worrying about his little girl. Dads are weird about their girls and dating. Most dads are like that at some point.

My parents try to see what I'm doing on the computer all the time. In fact, I'm being watched as I type this. I wonder why they go Solid Snake on my ass instead of being direct about it.

Story of my life. -_-

My parents had a good approach to parenting. They protected me from doing stupid shit like dating someone way older or sneaking out of the house, but they made me learn from my own mistakes. I never even had a bedtime. That taught me that if I stay up late I still gotta wake up and get through the day. Moderate parents are definitely the best.

I know! It's so annoying! I'm in 11th grade( I'm seventeen) and my mom says I'm too young to even have "crushes" on boys! I guess she thinks I'm going to prom with my science partner cause that's the only relationship with a boy she'll ever let me have

I'm only thirteen, but my parents allow me to make my own decisions. I've never had a bedtime, I do my own homework and studying, etc. This has effectively taught me that my choices will have inevitable aftereffects, whether they be positive or negative. As far as I can tell, this method has been completely beneficial. If I grew up with overprotective parents, I think I would be a lot more rebellious and less responsible for my own actions.

I think if parents want to be more on the protective side they should fade out during the teenage years. It's better to be protective of the really little kids, and then as kids get older let them make more and more of their own decisions.

Strangely, it seems like my parents get MORE protective as I get older. ._.

It's because they ate being selfish and don't want to "lose" you. But in fact they are Pushing you away with the smothering.

Story of MY freakin LIFE! I remember when I was like 8, I could do so much more than I can do now that I'm 16. It drives insane, what they do. It just ain't cool.
