+183 Rape used to result in a death sentence. it still should. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Rapists have mental problems. Having a mental problem doesn't mean you deserve to die. Way to be primitive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Your+name+(optional)): Wow. You are despicable. Believe it or not, it is possible to just be an evil human being.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hold on, now. It's no crime to be misinformed. Yes, they were a bit arrogant in their comment, but that's hardly cause to be so harsh with your words in response. Let's try to avoid needless arguments, yes?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha. Yeah, but there's a difference between being misinformed and saying you are primitive unless you sympathize with rapists. I would like to see this person say that to a rape victim.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

LOLZ way to put words into my mouth. Putting people to death because they have a mental disorder is primitive, not because you don't "sympathize" for them (which I don't). And people do not rape for sexual gradification, they rape because they have mental problems, because they like to be in controll. Google it. SO YEAH, I don't agree with dying because you have a problem, a life time in jail would be better 1 because killing them is dumb and 2 because it would suck ass.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Your grammar is horrifying. To say that rapists simply have a mental disorder is ignorant and ridiculous. Even if they have a "mental problem," they are a danger to the prison guards and the inmates.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ok so put them in a psych ward. Also: no need for the personal attacks. Seriousley dude, I hope you don't act that way towards people you're having a discussion with in real life.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not seeing how they don't have mental problems. No sane person just rapes someone. It's about power and control.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Is calling someone primitive not a personal attack?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ono

by Anonymous 12 years ago

thats a generalization. most dont. and if the person has mental issues that makes them do that, they should not be allowed to destroy other people's lives like that. personally i think death is too nice of a punishment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree. And supposedly a lot of people who go to prison for rape are put in different clothing than the other inmates to serve as an indicator to the others that they'd raped someone, and then a lot of the other inmates beat the rapists while they're in prison

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think death is too drastic...I do think that they should be castrated, at the very least though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Until we can guarantee that human error and corruption cannot lead our justice system into false conclusions, the harshest punishment we should enact is imprisonment. Too many times has someone been executed only to find later that evidence existed that significantly questioned or even exonerated the person's involvement in the crime for which they were sentenced. There have even been cases where those whose job it is to uphold what is right and just have deliberately withheld crucial evidence from the court that would exonerate people from the crimes they're being tried for, even when a conviction would lead to the death sentence. Until the day comes where this just cannot happen (and it much more than likely won't with humans as they are now), the death sentence is too extreme a punishment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nah. If there is a confession or DNA evidence, I say off with their head (either one in this case).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, I have read about cases where the suspect was forced to write a confession. One specifically where the police interrogated him for days, wouldn't allow him to call anyone and eventually threatened to shoot the guy if he didn't sign a confession. He was tired, scared and just figured that maybe he could explain the confession away in court. Didn't happen. The jury couldn't even begin to wrap their brains around why an innocent man would ever sign a confession. He was innocent, by the way. As for DNA evidence, that too can be falsified, believe it or not.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah. We probably wouldn't have much need for the death penalty if we had more strict (i forget the word) corporal? punishment - as in, don't throw then in jail for a week or a month or even a year for theft, assault, etc., have then get publically beaten/caned like they do in Singapore. No crime there. People there are afraid to break the law, as it should be.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Castrate em, not even Viagra can help them then

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know about this... rape is cruel, disturbing, and horrible but they should just rot in a jail cell for many many many many many year, death is a little too far.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So basically, raping someone then murdering the person who was raped gets the same punishment as raping someone?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are things far worse than death. Of course, if they were a serial rapist, then death sentence all the way. If they raped only one person... eh, I don't know; death sentence might be a little extreme there.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

if you think that then i doubt you understand the pain the victims go through. my girlfriend was brutally raped many times years ago. every time something reminds her of the incidents she breaks down crying, and has tried to take her life many times. someone that is capable of causing that kind of pain shouldnt live.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't believe the death sentence is ever neccissary.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree. It's never okay to take someone's life. Even if they took dozens on their own.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Typo :

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So you think Timothy McVeigh should have not been executed?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes.
