+95 Asteroid collision path detection is rather pointless when a solar flare could kill us all at any moment, amirite?

oh?

If we may die of a solar flare in 20 years, we might as well let ourselves be killed by an asteroid tomorrow.

your an idiot. we don't can't get killed by a solar flare. that is what the magnetic field is for. get your facts strait before posting.

Get your spelling straight before commenting.

I'm taking Physics at university.... The magnetic field isn't an invincible wall you know.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then you should know that if we can take steps to prevent the entire world from dying one way we should even thought we could die another way.

1) sorry about the spelling. 2) the Magnetic field will protect life on earth from a CME, which is the only danger that would come out of a solar flare. What I should of said was that a solar flare would not have the same effect as an asteroid impact.

You should also know that an asteroid collision would kill people while a solar flare would just make all technology quit working and not do any sort of physical damage to us.

That's like saying "Looking both ways when we cross the road is stupid because we could die of a heart attack at any moment."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No because the chance of you surviving the former is slim. The chance of you avoiding having a random heart attack during the same time period is pretty high. Whereas a solar flare catastrophe is just as likely as a meteorite collision.

Actually, a solar flare would make all technology quit working. That's it.
