-373 I'm not saying Rebecca Black's writers were geniuses or anything, but the lyrics aren't THAT horrible compared to a lot of other popular songs. Cause...you know, we all live in a yellow submarine, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did you just manage to revere Rebecca Black and put down The Beatles in one post?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ha. No, I wasn't trying to revere her. All I'm saying is that dissing her song on a count of stupid lyrics only is stupid because the lyrics of other REALLY popular songs are also REALLY stupid and uninspired...except maybe by pot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well granted a lot of songs have very...let's just say uninspired lyrics, I think a lot of people give Rebecca Black hate because of her singing ability, or lack thereof.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh yeah for sure. It's a combination of things. But I've heard a lot of people dissing the song JUST because the lyrics are stupid, and that's what I'm getting at.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mmmmm for sure. I mean the lyrics aren't too bad. I didn't know the days of the week until I had heard that song, so I'm actually pretty thankful. It was embarrassing when my girlfriend wanted to get dinner on Friday and I asked if that was before or after Saturday... :/

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Psh. Everyone knows the Beatles were inspired by acid, not pot, silly!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is the worst post I have ever read.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"jus bcuz im 11 duznt men im in luv, amirite?" you have NOW read the worst post ever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No this is still worse.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, the writer of this post obviously isn't a genius.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Incorrect band to compare this song to. Ringo may not have been the greatest writer but find some of the other hits by the beatles. Those lyrics have meaning.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There was no comparison to the band, there was a comparison to one song written by the band. Just because the OP mentioned that one song of theirs is meaningless doesn't mean she's putting down the band. If anything, it's a better example because it shows even excellent bands can have some songs with terrible lyrics.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

um for the record the writer of Rebecca Black's song has other songs that are pretty good, so dont even pull that card.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Me.): wut?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure other songs have stupid lyrics, but hers are not even creatively stupid. She basically starts by documenting her day! Gotta wake up. Gotta have my cereal. Really? Which seat should I take? Then she tells the days of the week. It's like stating the obvious. It's not lyrics, but rather a daily routine or something.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

so does Miley in party in the USA and Kesha in tik tok

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Those songs are still more creative. Everybody wakes up and wonders if they need cereal. Not everyone wakes up and feels like P Diddy or hops off the plane at LAX looking for fame. I think Tik Tok is stupid, too. Party In The U.S.A is a little better.

"Yellow Submarine" has goofy lyrics (not "stupid" lyrics, I would argue) on purpose. "Friday" has dreadful lyrics full of puzzling non sequiturs and inane repetition, and they were clearly not intended to sound stupid. So I would say not only are "Yellow Submarine" and "Friday" not in the same category for lyrics; they also lack similar intentions.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Beatles sucked. jussayin

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It is a false statement to say that The Beatles "sucked". They are the creators of rock and roll as we know it today they have some sort of influence on every single band that is around today. So you may not like The Beatles, but it is incorrect to say they "sucked".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

John Lennon is rolling in his grave.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I remember being in elementary school and wandering around singing, "We all live in a yellow submarine," over and over again with my friends during recess. That being said, I don't particularly like The Beatles (I like a couple songs). However, I appreciate what they did for music, and a lot of their lyrics are pure poetry. I just tend not to be as drawn to poppy, happy music. I like what Lennon and McCartney did after The Beatles split better. I predict that this comment will get about 50 votes down because I said I don't like The Beatles.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

did you actually just compare Rebecca Black and the Beatles? That should not be possible. Rebecca Black's lyrics have no depth. The Beatles' lyrics do, and there was no auto-tune in the making of their songs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree with the depth of the lyrics, however the Beatles made use of all the music making equipment and sound effects of the day. So, I pretty sure if there was auto-tune during that time, the Beatles would have used it, however it probably would have been a similar way the Imogen Heap uses it, aka artistically rather than to fix their sound.

Friday is probably better for young people to listen to than Ke$ha and Katy Perry. It's not about sex or drugs, it's just about being a teenager. I can't stand the song, but if I was a parent I would love it and would want my 14 year old daughter listening to it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I would prefer my theoretical child listen to U2 or Led Zeppelin... but you're right in the fact that it is less openly vulgar and disgusting as some of the pop songs today. Not that classic rock never had any songs about sex, but somehow, it was just much more classy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was definitely going to YYA until you said the Beatles had horrible lyrics.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or, for example, songs that talk about how the singer's lipgloss is so freaking awesome. Or, maybe, songs that argue about how the singer is hot 'cause he's fly, and you're not 'cause you ain't. *facepalm*

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The error of this post is that a greater majority of people love The Beatles as a whole and won't side with you on the fact that some of their lyrics made little sense. All they see is you comparing Rebecca Black to The Beatles and saying she is better.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...Yellow Submarine is a great song though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But you're also discounting the fact that the Beatles didn't have the ability to alter their voices nor their musical talents--while "Friday" was autotuned and done mostly by computer, "Yellow Submarine" simply outdoes it thanks to the Beatles' musical aptitude.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i totally agree with this post:) the beatles are overrated. sure they changed music and all that but they did have some pretty stupid lyrics. everyone probably will vote this down but i dont really care. besides all the other comments are mean so u should get at least one nice one:D

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Your face is overrated!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Dude, you can't dis the Beatles. at least they wrote their own music and, you know, revolutionized the industry.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Rebecca Black didn't even write the lyrics, which is the sad thing. I mean, people were HIRED to write those lyrics. What the fuck kind of people write lyrics like that when they're being paid? Drunken lemurs, that's who.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Beatles changed music, Rebecca Black is contributing to ruining it, never compare her autotune crap to real music let alone The Beatles- who actually wrote their OWN music

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i dont really care about black. but OMG PUTTING DOWN THE BEATLES. no.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Come on... is everyone seriously getting upset that someone mentioned the beatles without saying they are amazing? It's not an insult to them, but trying to explain that rebecca black is just a kid and people shouldn't go hating on her like they do.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not that people hate her, it's that she has no musical talent and is undeserving of any sort of fame.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

U CAN SUCK MY BALLS (yes imma girl)
