People believe in God or evolution. Maybe God created evolution? Amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm a christian and I don't think that humans came from monkeys, however, I think that we could have started as something less advanced and God directed our evolution to what we are today. The big bang might even be real too! We have no idea what God might have made happen.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Why don't you think that humans came from monkeys? I'm not trying to start an argument, I just want to know what you think.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm a Christian and I have faith and in God's WORD he said that he created the world in 6 24 hour days. That does not me 1 billion years= 1 day in God's time. It litterally mean 6 24 hour days. He made man and women an they populated the earth. We didn't come from apes over billions of years. People say Jesus was just a good man. But he was the only perfect person who had sinless thoughts, words, and actions. That just blows my mind. But I don't care how u judge me, but in God's WORD, He says, "Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the WORD of Christ.". So that's what I believe.
by Anonymous12 years ago
He also was 100% man and 100% God. Human minds can't understand that, but it us by faith that I believe.
by Anonymous12 years ago
*but it is
by Anonymous12 years ago
The Bible doesn't specify if they were "24-hour days". The "days" could've been any length of time.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yes it does. It says there was evening and here was morning.... That means a normal 24 hour days. But then again, you probably won't believe that either.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yes that's true but I don't know if that means each day of creation was 24 hours long. I guess no one can really know. But in Hebrew the word yom has different translations and is used in the Old Testament as both long periods of time and actual 24 hour days, so idk haha.
by Anonymous12 years ago
There is evidence to say that the time between the creation of the Earth and the beginning of mankind was more than 144 hours. The person who wrote that part of the bible was not there, he made that up to make Judaism sound cool. God created everything, including the evidence mentioned above, so unless God is a dirty rotten liar (ie. imperfect), it is safe to assume that part of the bible isn't true.
by Anonymous12 years ago
The earths rotation is constantly slowing down, so, 100 million years ago, days might have been way longer, still nowhere enough time to create a planet, but my point is that a day doesn't have to mean 24 hours
by Anonymous12 years ago
What do you mean "still nowhere enough time to create a planet"?? Hes GOD. Not a human. He can make anything in any amount of time he wants. If you deleted that sentence I would say you had a good point.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Even though he's god, i believe he would still have to follow the basic laws of physics
by Anonymous12 years ago
So the way we measure 1 day is by one rotation of the Earth(lasting 24 hrs.). If the Earth wasn't the first thing created how do you know it was 24 hours?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Are you a total moron it says in the Bible that God is beyond time and that one day for us can be like thousends of years for God
by Anonymous12 years ago
I agree with u but don't you dare call me a moron. ;) JJ
by Anonymous12 years ago
you're just stupid. the bible wasn't made to be taken literally. God made the Earth. does it really matter how long it took?? but there is scientific proof in evolution. Genisis wasn't written to be taken literally. I'm also Christian and i believe in God. just saying. and i also agree with the above comment
by Anonymous12 years ago
Go read the King James bible moron God created the earth in 7 days and it says nothing about 24 hours
by Anonymous12 years ago
Humans didn't come from monkeys. Ask any evolutionary biologist and they will tell you that. Humans and apes have a common ancestor that they both descended from, so really we're just like distant cousins.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Did you read my comment? I said that I didn't think we came from monkeys but maybe something less advanced.
by Anonymous12 years ago
You Can't say you only believe in half of something. If you look at evelution as stated by Darwin you will see that the Bible and evolution both support eachother. most people that say they don't believe in it have no idea what evolution actually is. Go and read The origin of species written by Darwin and then speak about it. By the way yes I am a christian and i am also a scientist
by Anonymous12 years ago
Just because I don't believe in god doesn't mean I do believe in evolution. Or the big bang theory while we're at it. Some people are ok with not knowing what put us here.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Evolution is observable fact.
by Anonymous12 years ago
It's not a fact...
by Anonymous12 years ago
It is a fact. The food and pharmacology industries already make use of evolution to make their products. You can read this page http://www.nationalacademies.or...riculture.html which gives some examples
by Anonymous12 years ago
You're thinking about genetic variation.
http://creation.com/dogs-breeding-dogs
I've got more sources, but start with that one. Read the whole thing before you reply please. You'd be the first to do so. This one's also quite informative:
http://creation.com/its-not-science
by Anonymous12 years ago
I have done the studies if you pay close attention you will see that genetic variations are in fact a form of evolution
by Anonymous12 years ago
Can you explain how? Because I wouldn't call it evolution unless new genetic information is created.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Or you can go here for more information http://tinyurl.com/3s7altv
by Anonymous12 years ago
The THEORY of evolution is not a fact.
by Anonymous12 years ago
You're right. The scientific theory of evolution is not a fact, it is comprised on many facts, one of those facts being that evolution occurs.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I fucking hate when people think that theory is the same as hypothesis
by Anonymous12 years ago
Anything is possible!
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not anything for example a married bachelor is impossible...
by Anonymous12 years ago
he could be married to some and a bachelor to others :P
by Anonymous12 years ago
God and evolution are not mutually exclusive. Theists are not necessarily evolution-deniers and evolution-supporters are not necessarily atheists.
Also, this is why debating theists is impossible. You can show them all the proof in the world, but they're able to say "maybe God made it that way" or "He's just testing us."
by Anonymous12 years ago
According to a survey buy the NCSE most evolutionary biologist are actually theists: http://ncse.com/news/2010/05/new-survey-results-evolution-005542
by Anonymous12 years ago
Read more closely. That poll wasn't of evolutionary biologists, it was of "1001 adults nationwide". It was a poll of the general public.
by Anonymous12 years ago
pardon me, i posted the wrong link here is the correct one:http://ncse.com/rncse/29/2/winning-their-hearts-minds-who-should-speak-evolution
by Anonymous12 years ago
That link doesn't mention any data about scientists either, dude.
by Anonymous12 years ago
If God created evolution, and evolution explains the existence of complex life, then what created God? Postulating that God might have created evolution doesn't answer any questions, but it does create a thousand new ones.
by Anonymous12 years ago
God was never created, he was always there. The concept is hard for a human mind to grasp.
by Anonymous12 years ago
If you're allowed to say that, then I'm allowed to say "Evolution is a principle of life in our universe and God has nothing to do with it. The concept is hard for a human mind to grasp."
See how both statements fail to argue anything?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Have you ever aske yourself what created the universe? You come to the same contradiction as what created God
by Anonymous12 years ago
There's no contradiction, as I am not suggesting anything that might have created the universe. Religious people seem to think that saying a God created the universe answers the question, but it doesn't, because then you have to ask what created God. And if you say that God has existed forever, then you might as well say the universe existed forever without a God; both statements are equally illogical. Well actually, the second statement is more logical because at least we know the universe exists, but there's no indication that a God does.
by Anonymous12 years ago
But saying that the universe existed forever would violate one of the most experimentally verified theories in science, the big bang. There had to be some kind of prime motivation
by Anonymous12 years ago
But why would you do that? Evolution is all about finding answers and proving things with science. It's easy to believe in something when you can see it. That's why it's called faith.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Faith and God are not answers to questions, they're cop-outs.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Nothing created God, he has existed since the beginning of time and he created everything.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah, aminotwrong already said that.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm Catholic and I believe in evolution. In fact, the Catholic church has stopped teaching creation for a while now. My mother and my cousins learned about evolution in Catholic school. The Pope has actually been talking about it recently:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40945242/ns/technology_and_science-science/t/god-was-behind-big-bang-pope-says/
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah right, a Catholic who believes in evolution, yeah, and I'm a Jewish Nazi.
by Anonymous12 years ago
The part of the bible that describes the creation of the universe is obvoiusly not true, so who knows how the universe was created? If God created DNA, he could also create a process by which DNA changed into different DNA. It's probably not that hard for an omnipotent being to do.
by Anonymous12 years ago
How is the part of the Bible that describes Creation completely untrue? You're taking it way too literal.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Maybe evolution created God.
by Anonymous12 years ago
This is a false dichotomy.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Why are you acting that it's either one or the other? Some people believe in both, some believe in neither, and still others believe in a combination of God, evolution, and other factors.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Many people think it's one or the other.
by Anonymous12 years ago
This is a question agnostics ask. As an atheist I say no.
by Anonymous12 years ago
"Religion without science is blind. Science without religion is lame." - *I believe that was Einstein.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Evolution exists, that is a fact. Organisms change over time. Whether or not you believe that humans and monkeys share a common ancestor is different.
by Anonymous12 years ago
DUH.
by Anonymous12 years ago
k bud don't start posts that don't make sense .. no sense at all ,, at all
by Anonymous12 years ago
Guys and gals clarification micro evolution is a proven fact. Macro evolution is a theory which has not been proven. Look it up. I have been doing the research
