+372 It's not right that atheists can't legally hold public office in some states, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And in the states that they can hold office, many people won't vote for them solely because they are an atheist.

I'm a Christian and I can't believe people are actually this... ugh.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Its not like their monsters... its just a belief.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pretty sure she's saying she can't believe it's illegal for atheists to hold public office in some places, not that there are atheists.

Troll in the dungeon!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No it's not. It's the christian majority, but that does not mean it's a Christian nation. It's a secular government with freedom of and from religion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Please, explain then why we have seperation of church and state.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hahaha that's so stupid to say

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm definitely a Christian, but you can't say that people who aren't Christians can't hold office...that's the type of judging and hateful speech that gives the rest of us a bad name.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do they actually ask people what their religion is? If they do then that's a bit stupid...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Considering the big thing that was made over Obama being Muslim or not, I'd say they do.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't see the point in that :|

None of these laws are actually used in practice anymore. Some of them might still be written in the books but if someone were to challenge the law it would be taken to the state or supreme court and removed. That's how US laws work - many of them are unconstitutional, but until someone bothers to challenge them they remain.

by Anonymous 12 years ago
