Because the human race would NOT die out. Two parents have two children; the children become parents. Zero population growth or decrease.

There are almost 7 billion people in the world. Even if half were to die before becoming parents, people will still be having unprotected sex and making babies. Also, the Duggard family will probably prevent that from happening.

Or Four!! 4 should be the maximum amount. It's the best number of children to have, with 2 girls and 2 boys (so it will be even and no one will be left out), like my mom's family, and it ended up being a great family and we're much more closer to my mom's family than my dad's, who has 9 siblings. But I only want two children, preferably twins.

I'm the older one of two and I wish I had a bigger family. But apparently I was 'too much hard work' for that, even though my parents originally planned on having four. Charming. But yeah, I want three or four.
